This game is good, but... the roster ruins it for me.

I don't own this game on Steam, but I have played it on the PS4. The gameplay is pretty good and the AI is surprisingly fair considering ArcSystems is known for their brutally hard fighting games.

...But, just, every time I see a fantasy universe that could have such a diverse roster of likeable, unique characters ranging from all different kinds of forms like lizards, avians, eldritch horrors, etc... only to find the ENTIRE @#$%ING ROSTER is humans and nothing else, that kills my interest and mood every time. Just, humans, humans with pointy ears, humans with cat ears and a tail, humans with horns, etc. Just, the insane restriction of the characters just HAVING to look like humans because "It's relatable and marketable and familiar and grounded in reality (in a FANTASY universe)" just drains my interest in a world every time.

Not to mention, most of the characters are either bland and forgettable or super annoying. I don't know what my friend told me about Ladiva, but she acts like a gay stereotype, and I can't help but be offended by her a little bit. But Lowain and his crew? @#$% them! They are some of the most annoying characters in a fighting game ever. Frankly, I liked NONE of the characters in the game.

In Street Fighter, I can sorta forgive the roster for just being humans since that game is supposed to take place in the real world, albeit an exaggerated cartoon version of the real world, so it makes sense they're all humans. In a fantasy universe, though? No. There's no reason the human-with-pointy-ears race or the human-with-animal-ears/tail race or the human-with-horns race couldn't simply be a different species. These kind of races don't even make logical sense, and they're ALWAYS immersion breaking for me.

...And yes, I have an easier time buying Watson from Battle Fantasia than Kemonomimis.

So, good game, but the roster is a killjoy for me.

I am pretty stubborn myself but even I understand that we can't just insert things in a world lores "just because". It's like saying "Why is there no furries in death notes". Like, I dunno? Maybe the lores of the universe makes it that no such creature exists withing that world?

The guy is complaining that a random fantasy world with set lores and worlds doesn't have HIS preferred race. I like furries as much as anyone into them but I would not force one in a world they don't belong. IF I see one in GBF then nice. If not then fine. I like Yuel, anyway.

There's dozens of other games that do and will cater to exactly what you want. But saying a game needs to change for YOU is exactly why you get the "bigotry" and "Bias", which btw they aren't giving you either, you just yell words to strong arm people into getting what you want. They are simply giving you the exact ire anyone would when a nearly decade old franchise is told by someone it better DROP EVERYTHING ITS KNOWN FOR cause it doesn't meet your perfect idea of something. Don't you find it quite hypocritical to report people for saying something as mildly disrespectful as "furry moment" when you yourself are being extremely rude (passive-aggressive tone, namecalling and I quote, " f%@# off"), in both your OP and your replies? You've even already been called out on it.

Don't you also find it hypocritical to call people bigoted while you yourself do not tolerate the lack of furry characters in an anime fighter from an anime-styled gacha JRPG franchised aimed at... anime fans (a demography which has little to no common ground with furries)? While also having done no research as to the existence of the werewolf (and more specifically the Wulf & Renie duo) tribe in the GBF world, as well as the presence of the Otherworlders (exactly the eldritch horrors you speak of), primordial dragons and non-humanoid primal beasts? Even Zooey in her true (Grand Order) form is basically a giant space dragon-centaur, which can even be seen in her SSBA.

Imagine going to a furry community to post an inflammatory and uninformed thread complaining that furry artists don't draw regular humans. That is exactly what you are doing here.

First off: No. MOST furries I know are pushovers. Most don't criticize RPGs, games or shows for being shallow and having awful character designs. Heck, most won't even stand up against hate, and some furries (or people who call themselves furries) even DEFEND bigotry.

Second: No, there really isn't that many JRPGs that go beeyond rehashing humans over and over. MOST of them are like Blazblu. A lot of the ones that aren't are usually generic by-the-numbers Kemco quality dregs. The JRPGs people care about do EXACTLY what Blazblu did with it's "lore." Hence, why I criticize it so heavily.

No. You guys DESERVED to be told to go f@#$ off. Also, the idea that ONLY humans are allowed to be good is, IMO, a dangerous, toxic mindset to have, so seeing every single race just be a human that's been minorly altered really does offend me. And if the franchise truly is deeper than that, then the game should reflect that outside the generic cute animal/dragon sidekick.

It is not about humans being good and the rest not, it is about people liking this kind of character and looking for entertainment that has them; it's not even about representation, just a matter of taste and what people look for in these characters. Are people toxic for liking these?
Thinking that liking them and not liking furry characters is a toxic and dangerous mindset is, by definition, bigotry. Intolerance towards other people's point of view, opinion, taste, orientation, identity.

I have a fetish for cute anime 2D characters, certified weabo, which is why I am waiting for big sale on this game to grab it, coz itwas recommended to me by a friend, I dont have a fetish for furries, so I am not buying countless furry games that are already on steam, something, that you should probably consider doing, instead of continuing this thread and trying to change a game that is clearly not for you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
