Does the Story mode tell the same story as the actual Granblue Fantasy (Gacha Game)?
Does the Story mode tell the same story as the actual Granblue Fantasy (Gacha Game) or its different between two of them?

I didnt play the gacha game. I only see its only on JP available. Atleast on (google) App Store

I actually started getting a bit into the gacha because I was intrigued by Versus and decided I'd progress further in the gacha before playing this games' story. They're different as far as I could tell from the Versus story mode beginning. You can play the game in English in a chrome based browser.

Change the language settings when you're there.

iirc it's intuitive enough to figure it out, I can't currently check myself how it looks, but once you've arrived on that page you should be able to find it. If not you can also google how to play it in English. I also did that to find said page because I thought you had to use the (apparently by now non-functional) google app.

same timeline. btw there’s an anime series on netflix and funimation that adapts the story from the beginning, it would be more interesting to watch it than grinding through the mobile game imo

Yeah, just looking it up you'd apparently have to play 100+ chapters in the gacha game to catch up to the point where Versus' ties in. I can guarantee that starting out in the gacha, tackling the main story is a breeze and hardly worth calling it a grind. But I don't know how much work you have to put in when you get to the later parts. Adding to that, the people in this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/GranblueFantasyVersus/comments/g9xuj3/during_what_chapter_does_gbfv_take_place_after/) say that Versus gives some decent recaps. So watching the anime (I think both existing seasons can barely cover the beginning of the whole main story) and then jumping into Versus might indeed be a reasonable compromise to experiencing everything.

That said I also think the gacha is worth it in itself so far. Definitely some side detail that you won't get in the anime while the series does a better job at honing in on the main cast. So they both complement each other rather well.

I've watched anime before getting into Versus story and I have no trouble understanding game's story - it's not even complex or deep, just there to make you fight characters that are usually on similar page otherwise. Maybe playing GBF further would make some parts clearer but for the most part in-game glossary + general understanding from anime is enough for me (I do lookup some characters on GBF wiki if I get interested in them enough).

Not really. Versus timeline is an alternate one to the mobile game, being affected by the machination of Belial and a [Big spoiler for GBF]the possibility that Lucilius is slowly eroding the dimensions' walls to escape from the void. It's not the same timeline by the sole fact that Djeeta and Gran are there and that Bubs is alive.

It's a different story but there's time travel type stuff good enough to explain the story to newbies.

As someone who played some dozens of the chapters and watched the anime on Crunchyroll, I have to say, the anime starts and stays good for a couple episodes, then it completely butchers the story, not recommended. It sucks even more since the cutscenes and dialogue of the game are good enough to be in an anime almost unaltered. They don't have much "gameism", outside of the last line of some cutscenes being "anyway let's beat down some monsters that just popped out of nowhere to have some gameplay between cutscenes".

Oh, and the game doesn't have a JP version, it only has one, single, global version with support for both Japanese and English. But you have to go through the Japanese interface to create an account, I remember there being a site that guides you through that, though.

So then, playing this game won't spoil Granblue Fantasy ReLink if you haven't watched the anime?

GBVS, ReLink and the anime all have completely different stories, so no.

If you want to dive deep into the story, the browser game is where it's at. Though GBVS does a good job at getting you into it and recapping stuff.
Story-wise iirc GBVS starts during the Nalhegrande arc, between the 000 side-story (What Makes The Sky Blue, Paradise Lost and 000 are hilariously enough more important to the games' story and lore than the main story itself, all three are permanently accessible in the browser game) and the appearance of the Tower of Babyl.

If you are looking to hit the original game, be warned there are MANY things you should know beforehand or you'll have a bad time. I've written a little intro in a past thread a year ago that sums up everything, kinda: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1090630/discussions/0/3187988018485200064/

The advice still holds up today, just know that when you start is important, just like in many other gachas.
There will be an amazing banner (halloween legfest) in a few hours from now (in which case Lich, Florence, Mugen and eventually Vane are prime targets), and then in december the game will have its usual new year campaign which is the most generous period of the year with the most broken stuff coming out.
So I'd say either now or at the very end of november are the best moments to get started.
Oh and they finally made a decent implementation of https so non-JP players can actually compete in terms of ping now. Cygames not being useless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for once :leaCheese:
If you are the careful type, make a throwaway account first, commit your russian roulette esports player mistakes, see if you like the game. If you do, then make a new account or a few rerolls on an important banner and you're good to go. You even have an alt to do impulse seasonal yolo rolls on to avoid getting baited on your main, isn't that convenient.

They haven't told so much about Re:link, but it does happen in a different timeline apparently.

So then what's the canon? The anime or the mobile game?

Regular ol' browser GBF. The anime is pretty much the same as the game with some minor differences.

Literally everything but the anime is canon. All the games are canon because multiverses, but the main story is the original game, of course.

All of it, they are all about the multiverse now.

Each thing it's own universe.
