So, worth buying for PvE?
I'm not exactly a big PvP focused guy, as my Fighting Game experience comes from playing Soul Calibur 2 back on the PS2 and then following the series all the way to 6 for the character creation aspect, showing off custom characters, and the individual characters stories. Later on tried Jump force..... which was just a no skill spam fest with no story and no character investment.

What about this game though? Does it have a strong focus on PvE or is it made for the PvP crowd. Not that i'm doubting the players on if they like that or not, but I tend to be suspect of 2D fighting games since they tend to lack in terms of complexity and are devolved to button mashing. So no interest in PvP.

GBVS PvE basically comes down to four things:
- Arcade mode, same thing as PvP but against CPUs
- Missions & training mode
- RPG Mode, which is a fully fledged story mode with gear progression and unlocks, big bossfights and possible co-op; plays more like a beat'em up when compared to other fighting games
- Monthly time attack events, where you compete in the rankings for the fastest clear of a special boss

When compared to most other fighting games, gbvs has more interesting pve content, but it is still a PvP thing first and foremost.
Now I don't know where you got the idea that 2D fighters tend to devolve into button mashing but it is absolutely false. Against anyone who isn't a complete newbie, button mashing is the fastest and most efficient way to get yourself slam dunked head-first into a garbage bin. It makes you predictable, vulnerable and greatly slows down your learning.
Whiff punishes, frame traps, meaty oki and reversal baits are powerful, game-agnostic anti-mash tools every average fighting game player has in their arsenal, and this also holds true for 3d fighters as well, to a slightly smaller extent.

If you are hell-bent on only playing for the PvE aspect, I'd recommend you to grab it during a sale. It's genuinely good but don't expect the same amount of content as, say, a metroidvania or jrpg.

If you like Soul Calibur (i too played it hundreds of hours on Playstation 2), i suggest try GB Versus PvE mode, you can always refund if you dislike it. (Just don't forget about 2 hours limit)

Imo, they did a pretty good job here with the story and as far as fighting mechanics allows them.

Jump Force is not a fighting game, its an Arena Brawler. Granblue Fantasy Versus is the only Fighting Game that has a lot of PvE content. But be warned this game have a really bad optimization hence whether or not your PC is a NASA computer it will still take a lot of time to load between screens.

No. PVE Events are very short and pretty much nobody plays it outside the events. The single player might get you interested in the PVP tho. :Fistofdosh:

the pve stuff is better than most fighting games but isn't remotely worth the current pricing
