Why is everyone so negative about it?

This is not the same developers of Avengers.. and Avengers failed because it's that dumb game as a service multiplayer trash. This one is a proper story single player game.
Avengers was Battlefront, this is Jedi Fallen Order. A real video game.

Because it looks like a dumpster fire. Based on the character lineup they're clearly trying to ape the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but they don't have the rights to the actor likenesses or voices so it just looks like a cheap rip-off. They could have gone with a more stylized look but instead they get the Great Value brand version of GotG.

Trailer looked like trash, dialogue was cringe, no faith in Squeenix after Avengers.

I disagree. They are not at all trying to rip off the films. Their designs look very different from the movies and must closer to the comic books. You are making the connection with the films more than the comics because of the realistic graphics and human like faces. If they were in a more cartoonish visual style such as Ultimate Alliance 3, you wouldn't be comparing to the films.
It looks great, the voice acting is spot on, dialogue is amusing and authentic to Guardians.
Quit being a hater.
Just be more open minded and drop the comparisons with the movies. If the movies didn't exist, you would probably not be so mad about the game. It's just that you watched the movies and that version of the Guardians is your version of the Guardians and you won't take anything else.

GotG was very different before these modern versions popped up.. A lot of people were fans of the older teams that no longer exist.. but GotG has a lot more than 5 people in it.

If they put Major Victory in here people would be screaming Avengers knock off (more than they already are) and considering the rest of the members of the Guardians since the 70's and their abilities they'd be screaming Avengers knock off no more who they put in.

Thats because people are dumb lol but yeah they were.. obviously. Even the modern version of GotG has other people that are considered part of the team.

Call it what you want. The entire MCU is based on events of the comics. It is supposed to be telling the same story adapted for the media of film.
