The explanation in IGN's article about this
"Eidos Montréal senior game director Patrick Fortier explained why they chose to make Star-Lord the sole playable character, as opposed to giving the option to switch between the Guardians. “One of the things we asked was, well, what if we experienced teamwork from the inside? From controlling one character? In real life it's kind of like that. When we work with our creative team, sometimes we don't agree. Sometimes we're in a bad mood one day, or we're very adamant about a certain thing or we're very passionate about it, and you have to navigate those waters. That's the kind of teamwork that most people know in real life,” Fortier said. “We thought, ‘Well, that hasn't really been explored very much in video games. If we're going to go and give room for these characters to get fleshed out in a narrative-driven action adventure game where the psychology and the personality of the characters really comes through, this is probably a really interesting way to go about it.’”
I'll wait for a sale making it just star lord was a huge mistake.. I don't even like him.. Rocket and Groot were my interest.
Also no interest in that pre order crap.
That was pretty much my reaction as well, seriously Star Lord is the least likable character of the bunch, but I bet we have to play him because he is human and relatable. Sadly for me it means this game isn't even going to make it to the wishlist.
Jeez these developers have no clue these days..
I'd rather play Rocket than Starlord myself.
That's what I thought, and I'm sure there's a place for this type of combat.... but GotG is a team focused narrative. Wouldn't have made more sense to have this play like Final Fantasy 7 Remake?
These SE/Marvel collaboration games are the definition of "let's not do things people actually want"
but if their target audience is fortnite players, i guess thats true
