Play this game in Steam Deck?

I want to start grinding Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy on the Deck and PC. So I tried to find if this game runs on the Deck. I reached the protondb https://www.protondb.com/app/1088850 and there are quite some steps which people do BEFORE they play this game on the Deck. At the same time I saw "Deck Verified" stamp of this game in its Steam Store page. So what does this mean? If I purchase the game from Steam, I ALSO need to do the steps people talked about in ProtonDB in order to play this game on the Deck? Or they were talking about those steps because they were using non Steam version of the game?

Look at the right side of these posts in ProtonDB. It lists what Linux version these people run on their PC. They are not playing on the deck, when there is any other Linux version listed than SteamOS. You don't need to tinker with "Deck verified" apps on the deck.
Some do, for a perceived performance optimization, but that's a matter of personal taste and not a requirement.

i have no prob on my deck. i just run it at low settings. frame rates dip but i keep it at 45frames and i am having a good time

The game runs fine but if you plan to play offline (train or plane) it's very annoying. The game claims to require a connection for "first run" about once a week on my deck. It's incredibly annoying

Runs just fine immediately. Cap FPS at 45 though to make it even smoother.

Did you have to change something? Mine dropped to 0 fps then froze during the cutscene when I sat down in my ship the first time.

same, my game has slowed down to awful almost 0 to 1 fps during some sections on deck

game drops 0 fps in first cutscene for me.So much for verified
