What do you guys think about the 'gameplay"?
I love the graphics(although there are glitches here and there), I loved the variety of the environments and locations in all chapters(just beautiful), classic songs, the banter between characters, the whole story in general, everything ranges from good to great.
BUT, THE GAMEPLAY... Geez guys idk... it gets so repetitive and boring. Tired of firing this bootleg blastor pistol. It feels like it is firing neon ear buds. My punches do more damage than a laser gun. How? Why? Random mobs sometimes take so long to kill once the guardian skills are on a cooldown. An option to switch chars would have sky rocketed the gameplay of this game. I've completed 13/15 chapters and the gameplay loop is just so annoying and unsatisfactory. I kill a huge boss or 50 mobs and it feels ehhhh...
And asking guardians to do obvious tasks like hey groot, make a wooden path over this large gap, hey drax break this obviously broken wall, hey gamora slash these wires - over and over and over...

And the worst thing. The game is linear in galactic proportions. Sometimes it doesn't even let you turn around, It's like no you only go forward. PRESS "W" YOU HEATHEN! There was a chapter in the game where the only key I pressed for 1.5 hours was either W or E. And there are many loooong sections like this.

And the flying sections...:steamsad:

If you're complaining about the gameplay being boring or same-y, then I highly recommend playing on the hardest difficulty and using the custom game modifiers to increase it further. It's a legit challenge and requires a lot of thought and good tactics in each battle.

If you're not doing this and complaining about how "repetitive" the fight sequences are, well, then that's on you. The game gives you all the tools you need to tailor your own experience. All you need to do is open the settings menu. Otherwise, you're just kind of a moron.
I think you are the genius this thread was missing! You solved everyone's problems with this game's combat system by telling that "just max out the difficulty and max out the difficulty sliders even further"! And even though you only have 4 hours of playtime in this game, you are confident enough to come and tell everyone that it is not repetitive and everyone is just a moron! Truly, a paragon. An enlightened one.
Thanks!

This thread has been far more enlightening about what I can expect, in contrast to the "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews. Thing is that I can get "great graphics", "great story", and "great characters" out of many movies I have yet to watch (generally free with various streaming subscriptions), I don't need to buy a game for that and endure a bunch of repetitive sounding dull combat. I wish people would only rate a game this positively if it also has "great gameplay" which based on this thread it clearly doesn't.

What can be more dull than watching a movie though?

I had a blast with this game despite it lacking in gameplay. I even enjoyed the combat. Had I 'listened' to most of the threads here I would have missed out on a great experience.
