Basically just shooting nonstop and waiting for cooldowns to trigger abilities.
I was not a big fan to be honest but the game has very elaborate custom difficulty settings so you can just tune it to your personal liking.
It did not distract from the overall great game for me.
But dont buy this game for the action, buy it for the overall great graphics, music, characters and surprisingly well told story.
Yep. What he said.
I did set most stuff to the easiest setting too and did not die once in the entire game.
Well except by falling off stuff. On the easiest settings its REALLY easy.
lol, how? i've barely died on hard, pretty much never have to use the team ultimate or whatever.
To answer OP - the combat is mediocre. Quite simplistic and very easy even on the highest difficulty, meaning you don't really need to engage with what limited depth there is in terms of ability synergies and stuff. It's not AWFUL, certainly not bad enough to ruin the game, and there are a handful of encounters that I found quite fun and tense. But the main draw of this game is in the story, visuals, and characters.
It's just a visual indicator of the range gate. Close, high damage; far, low damage.
Every shooter has the mechanic, just in this game they make it explicit.
And, no, I've no idea what the actual crossover point is. I'm generally too busy spamming the combat roll button to pay much attention to that level of fine detail.
