You can ACTUALLY move the ship to dodge the cliffs, it is just VERY SLOW to the point I believed it was an "on rails" part, but no; try to move it upward or down, left or right to avoid to crash.
Yeah I got through it a few mins after I posted this. I had to crank my mouse sensitivity to its max lol. This game is so fun, but this part was 0% fun.
I turned my mouse sensitivity way up, and memorized the movements I needed to make, so that I moved to that position as soon as physically able. Hopefully they will fix it. It is a small part of the game which could really just be a cut scene if they can't get the flight controls right in that portion.
Just press up all the time and thats it ....
Things which did not work:
- only pressing up
- setting mouse to 100 sensitivity
- memorizing the route.
Nothing I could do prevented hitting red. :(
Well, using an XBox controller, I managed somehow to get through it, after nearly a dozen tries. Some memorization and mostly dumb luck, I make no claim to skill here.
But I agree with your larger point, this is one of several places I'd just like to be able to skip past after failing it some number of times.
Another would be the several places--mostly later, you may not have seen them yet--where you are sliding down one of those tunnels and suddenly you have to jump at JUST the right moment to clear the gap...
I't particularly galling when there are several such points in the same tunnel, so if you get all of them but missed the last one, it's back to the beginning for you.
Needless to say all of these things would be much less annoying if the saves didn't take such an infernally long time to load after you die. What makes that even stranger is that if you accidentally slip off the edge of something--or fail to make a normal jump across a gap--you immediately recover at the point from which you fell!
