It is demanding, and I'll consider the visuals are great, but not the most amazing, so I'm assuming it isn't that properly optimized.
You can't even max everything out for the 3080 series though, but that's because games are now being pushed out with hardware in mind that will come out over the next couple years. Ray tracing is still an absolute performance hit.
Which isn't bad by itself, but devs tend to not mention it when they show previews, which is a problem, because it gives a false impression of how the game will be experienced.

my settings are 4k dlss quality no ray tracing. also tried balanced but same stutters.. dropped to 1080p and you guessed it... still stutters.
However, 1080p @ 3070 oc is still stuttering frequently while maintaining stable fps.
no vram limit or anything.
Once you've launched the game and are a the main menu, try alt-tabbing out, and opening task manager. From there, click the DETAILS tab, find the GOTG exe file, right click and select SET PRIORITY. Click Real-time. It may not allow you to prioritze real-time (some setups won't do it) but it should default to HIGH.
This may help your stuttering issue. I haven't needed to do this, as it seems to run incredibly well on AMD GPUs, but I've seen this solution for Nvidia cards in multiple reddit threads and forums.
Worth a shot.
I'm seeing exactly this. If something is going to fall down, or -- where it's especially obvious -- if Peter is going to crawl through a narrow space, there's a stutter before that moment. So it looks like the stutter is because the game is loading something, not because it's struggling with rendering the scene.
Agreed. I'm pushing maximum in everything except RT (which is set to 1 step lower at HIGH) at 1440p with a Radeon 6800, getting 75fps avg all day. I've had one or two crashes in 40hrs (2 play throughs) and I think that is totally acceptable.
Don't know why some Nvidia owners are having issues... Even a friend of mine with a 3070 was having trouble launching the game before updating to the very latest drivers though. All good now.
There's something going on that's tanking some systems but not others, don't know if it's the card, or background software, or what. But hopefully it gets sorted, because I don't normally go for linear games like this but am having a blast and it stinks that others can't.
