Chapter 6 Bug with tower?

I can't go to Cosmo's Tower. I can get to the gate, I can scan the tower in the helmet but if I try to walk up the guards, the game turns me away in the other direction.
I've read several walkthroughs and watched videos and everything seems to point to being able to walk right up and enter.
I'm also not seeing any other beings in Knowhere unless I can actually talk to them.
Have I missed something?

have you tried the alley way to the right of the gate?

I went down the alley, up some ramps and through some maze of...giant spaghetti (lol) and then into a huge open area. Didn't look like there was anything to do so I went back figuring I was supposed to use the gate. Honestly, if I'm not supposed to walk in the obvious front gate it should give more of a clue than auto-forcing me away from it.

The guard told you to walk down the alley and there's even a marker on your compass leading you there. How many more hints do you need?

Yeah I loaded up my save just now and it dropped me into the Mantis cut scene which I didn't see before. And now Knowhere has all sorts of aliens around where before it was mostly empty.
Went to the tower and got the alley directions. Weird

The latest patch seem like introduced more problem. Plus, the "weird" save system make thing more uncomfortable. I've hear the game got more serious issue toward the end, yesterday, it bug me like hell in Chapter 9, after crew escape from Sacrosant. Spend 2hrs just to replay talking, because I got stuck after picking up Drax's rapsheet. SMH

Had another bug yesterday where I had to take an elevator but Drax was just hanging around outside it so I was forced to reload last save to continue.
