The high resolutions are already in the game, as it takes more space than the console version. We have up to 8k resolution available, while the console version supports a maximum of 4k. You can access these higher resolutions virtually if your monitor & GPU support this, or just by purchasing a 5k or an 8k monitor/tv.

I didn’t say the game had low resolution textures. But it can look even better for those who have the hardware. Far cry 6 has it, marvels avengers had them

Yes these were optional, separate packs for these games. For Guardians of the Galaxy they just lumped them into the main game files on PC, so that everyone downloads them even if they don't have a high resolution display.

It only goes up to 8k on PC, because we have the high resolution texture files which aren't there in the console version.
