Depends. I also have 970 and I had problems. Game runs on 15 FPS if you install latest drivers, Maxwell GPUs have a problem with this game. So I played it on Geforce Now for a while then saw a fix on this forum, which was "rollback to driver 471.11." I tried it, it worked, FPS went above 30, to 40 and 50 sometimes, depending on location.

But there were problems, there is a huge space battle late into the game, when that sequence started, FPS dropped back to 15-17 with huge stuttering. Since I played the majority of the game on GFN, I don't know if there are any other problematic parts.

Also, I overclock my 970 for 10-12 percent FPS boost, despite that, on chapter 14, which is graphically very intense, I saw the FPS go down below 30, to 25-26 at certain times. That's another thing to consider.

So yes, you probably can play the game on a 970 but it won't be smooth sailing.

From what iv'e read, it can be done for sure if you rollback driver like the guy above said. Though cap your framerate to 30fps. That way the fps drops won't be as noticeable. Do some tweaking and turn up things that are CPU bound. You should be able to make textures go to medium as well. From what i have read, maxwell is also good at rendering lights.
