The dip into the 55s to 65s in the benchmark graph you can see at the end of the run is the part with the guardians on screen. This is the exact performance I get in game.

Does your frame rate improve in photo mode?
Also, what motherboard do you have?
I must be one of the lucky ones. Only minor or annoying issues here so far after 16 or so hours in,
It actually does improve in photo mode by a lot! The framerate jumps to 110 to 120 fps! It is also fine in the pause menu (with the "gooey" red background), but it tanks in the main menu.
I am also using an ASRock Z390m Pro4 motherboard and a Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus.
Since the framerate always tanks when the guardians are involved on screen, like in the benchmark at the end, in the main menu, or during gameplay, I believe it is some kind of logic thread tied to the characters (or even just Peter) that is running haywire. Most CPU cores are hardly utilized but one core is at nearly 100% when running the game.
Lol, anything you say is meaningless after that statement.
First off, today's update did not help me at all. But during testing the update, I tried something I had not tested yet. I ALT+TABBED out of the game, opened the Task-Manager, chose the "Details" tab, right clicked on the games process "gotg.exe", and selected "Realtime" (the highest setting) in the "Set priority" menu.
BAM: 100+ fps in the main menu, during the intro scene in Quil's basement, and in his room on the ship. For reference, before the priority settings, I got 45fps in the basement and 60fps in the main menu and on the ship.
I have not tested any further into the game and I do not know if this will help others, but I wanted to let you guys know as quickly as possible.
Good luck!
P.s.: If someone knows how to set a program's process priority permanently, any info is appreciated!
