This isn't an open world, or RPG with a ton of side things to do. It's a story driven action game with a few rpg elements.
15+ hours is actually really good in todays market for such a game.
Yeah I wouldn't have picked up GotG either if it had been yet another grinding game with no ending, I already have Avengers for that.
Obviously one can rush through the game and complain about GotG being short
I think everyone here can agree that despite the doubts eidos montreal managed to deliver a good game however despite all that, I'm unwilling to pay 60 quid because they only allow you to play 1 out of 5 available characters.
if this changes further down the line with free updates I will reconsider it because this looks like a titles that I would spend a lot of time replaying it like I do with 90% of the games in my library.
nonetheless kudos to eidos montreal. I had my doubts back then when they were developing deus ex mankind divided and they proved me wrong. I believe they are the only studio working for square that consistently delivers. ( FORGET THIEF it was just a bad dream )
You basically play as the entire team of Guardians in the game by unlocking their combat moves in the order of your choosing and giving them attack orders in the fights. You also give them commands to interact with the environment and use Rocket's skill with gadgets to upgrade your gear as well. The combats are pretty epic stuff, more cinematic than in Marvel's Avengers though not as complex.
Perspective is that of Peter Quill and of his background story we see the most, the other Guardians mostly just talk through theirs. Drax's story is delved into in much greater detail though, we even get to see his family and home planet.
Giving your other teammates commands is not actually "playing as the entire team". This is essentially a team management game where you give them orders and then the AI performs the actions where you don't ever get to actually play as Drax, Gamora, Groot or Rocket...you never play as anyone aside from Star-Lord. It's a single character player game.
Yes, it's a team management game and you don't actually micromanage more than Star-Lord, that's why I said "basically play as the entire team" instead of "actually play as the entire team."
