FLOP!?

Around 10k Steam players playing this game at the moment, when Avengers was played by ~30k players and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, by ~38k players. Looks too little to me for a game with this "AAA" class. Flop or not!?

UPDATE on 07/05/2022: Square Enix SOLD almost all of its Western IPs, and the studios Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal (developer of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy) and Square Enix Montreal - https://embracer.com/release/embracer-group-enters-into-an-agreement-to-acquire-eidos-crystal-dynamics-and-square-enix-montreal-amongst-other-assets/ . I say this is the Ultimate PROOF "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy" was, is and will be a FLOP indeed. This is it.

Steam player count is hardly an indicator of anything for a single player game. Hands down the most fun I've had in a video game this year.

Never played avengers, but this is a fun game.

I have a great time playing it but my big guess is that peoples where expecting a movie tied game so not having the full actors crew must have made some peoples wondering what the flack was that.

Which is entirely on those people. This has been marketed as a fresh story with Eidos' take on the characters since the day it's been shown for the first time. PC users and blaming developers for things they didn't promise. - name a more iconic duo.

I would actually blame the lower numbers on Avengers as it was hot garbage. People may be uneasy about another marvel game thinking that this is another hot mess. But this game has been a real treat for me. More of a classic story driven action adventure that is a blast to play.

I see this picking up more players as time goes by. Downside is the length so you're not gonna retain those numbers week to week as it's a single player game on the shorter side hours wise.

This game seriously rocks. I am just tired of open world grinding/looting 150 hour games.
Facial animations are incredible (almost always) as well as textures and shaders. Congrats, Devs!

Of course it is not game of the year! Best games of the year and best action games are NINJA GAIDEN TRILLOGY. Best games i have played this year and isay it as someoen who plays all action game. It is a good action game yes but not best of the year. But we will see on steam spy how well it is selling,

Can't be game of the year they are Remasters of a game for PS2 &PS3. Got ported to PC. Anyways what do you think of Biomutant? Slow coming out party with small developer and BS support for Cyberpunk trying to stop sales for Biomutant with far to many ads on Cyberjunk.

Don't worry about what other people are playing to define your enjoyment of a game. If it looks fun, get it and play it.

Avengers I could tell immediately I would dislike, its look, it's feel, the online aspect- when I finally had a chance to play it, I indeed hated every single thing about it. Not a redeeming aspect in sight besides the visuals, for me, anyway.

This game looked awesome from the trailers and gameplay trailers, I played it, I love it. In both those scenarios I did my own research and made my own choices.

Caring too much about the immediate collective opinion is why I missed out on games like Binary Domain and Enslaved: Odyssey To The West when they were released.

It's ok to listen to other people's opinions and reviews but at some point you should have at least a GENERAL idea if a game looks good by watching gameplay footage of it. Bait and switch will still happen and that IS where community opinion and refunds can save you but this game clearly doesn't have any kind of bait and switch so you should be able to tell if you'll like it by just watching some footage.

It deserves to flop on PC, its awesome on console though, its also 10 times better than avengers which I also own.
