Fix for Crysis 2's constant crashes
**EDIT 2014 because of the recent revival of the thread**

Mainly for GTX 500 series only. Nvidia launched the GPU series with under voltage & DX11 games would crash within seconds of playing. Either increase the voltage or underclock the GPU to resolve this issue.

**EDIT**

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Original Thread**

This is for the gamers who are getting constant crashes in Crysis 2 with DX11 turned ON

My PC specs:
- Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
- 2x GTX 580 MSI
- 8 GB RAM
- all drivers are up to date

I've had a similar problem with Crysis 1, it was crashing every moment while running at 50 FPS with normal temps

I stopped playing Crysis 1 because I couldn't find a solution to this stupid problem...
forward a couple of years later... Crysis 2 launches... bought it & it crashes every min only when DX11 is ON!!!

Some suggested re-installing windows, downloading the game again, lower the Voltage of the Graphics card & ect... it didn't help but after days of searching I found out that lowering your Core & Shader Clocks might help. So I used MSI Afterburner to lower them little by little so I wont get a performance hit.

The game crashed & crashed until I lowered my Core Clock to 765 & my Shader Clock to 1530... now the game doesn't crash anymore :)

So now I have two profiles in MSI afterburner...
One for all of my games & one for Crysis 2.

This old thread is for the Nvidia GTX 500 series only. When Nvidia launched the series back in the day. They were under voltage for DX11 so that caused a lot of crashing.

So 500 series users had only two options, either increase the voltage or down clock the GPU 15% or more.

Hey man, I just wanted to say thanks for updating this with your fix.

I've been searching for a couple of days for a solution and thanks to you it seems to be fixed. I have a similar setup to your computer, running a GTX 570 and lowering my core and memory clocks seem to have fixed the problem.

My pleasure. I remember spending a couple of days trying to fix this issue with research, tweaking & crashing. It was a pain so I'm glad you found this thread.

If you find your temps are good. Instead of lowering the GPU clock, you can safely try to increase the voltage 2 digits everytime untill the game is stable, while checking the temps.
