Crysis 2 Maximum Edition

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition

Glowing Texture Bug
Hey guys, I just got Crysis 2 from the Humble Bundle, and it's fun so far, but I seem to be having some trouble with in-game textures. Specifically, some of them are either glowing or have what looks like white noise.

Here are some examples of said bug: http://imgur.com/a/mgDuc#0

I do not believe it is a hardware issue, as I am running on Window 7 with a 3570K and a 7970. I have tried using AMD Catalyst 13.8 Beta and 13.4 stable and both have the same issue.

I thought it might be an issue with being OCed, but I disabled it and the problem persisted.

As for settings, everything is set to the maximum at 1920x1080, and VSync is off.

I even tried un-installing the game and re-installing it, but it didn't fix it.

Does anyone have an idea as to how to fix it? Googleing it came up with nothing for me.

The command line seems to list some of the errors. http://i.imgur.com/O0zeHT6.jpg

I have exactly the same problem + sometimes (when there is no texture) I can see through walls and floors. It is really unplayable.

PaLy, what are your specs? Are any of them similar to mine (even in terms of brand).

Oh, I don't know if this makes a difference, but the game is also installed on a secondary drive, as my boot drive is rather small (SSD).

I've started to see this kind of thing as well. Sometimes the dust is replaced by large rainbow colored squares floating around. Very annoying...

Same problem with the glowing textures here, sometimes they're white noise and sometimes they're blue/yellow. I'm using a Radeon HD7850 and have the latest beta drivers. Another problem I'm having though is the fullscreen 1920x1080 resolution isn't fullscreen, it has borders all around the screen and they persist if I minimize making my desktop resolution look like that as well. I assume it's some type of scaling, but I have overscan off in my graphics card options.

I found a fix for the letter boxing (black border).

Set it to non-full screen 1920x1080, restart the game, and then once the game starts (in non-full screen mode) hit alt+enter to enter full screen mode. It's annoying, but it's been working consistently.

Hope you find a solid fix, I dont use an AMD so i'm not able to help but i just wish you luck on finding a way to fix the problem!

I have the same problem and I found that it appears ONLY when I'm playing the game on Ultra settings. On Extreme or lower everything is OK.

Hi, i found fix for this bug on radeon cards. Go to drive settings, then gaming, 3D application settings and change tessellation mode to use application settings.

Confirmed. Zerug's fix appears to work.

The game's console still lists errors, but they are no longer visible.

In order to change the rule for just Crysis 2, you can follow the steps listed below.

1. Open Catalyst Control Centre
2. Click on "Gaming"
3. Click on "3D Application Settings"
4. Click on "Add" just below "Application Settings"
5. Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis 2 Game of the Year\bin32" (or your equivalent)
6. Select "Crysis2"
7. It might ask you if you wish to proceed at this part. Say yes.
8. Switch "Tesselation Mode" (at the bottom) from "AMD optimized" to "Use application settings".

I have not yet attempted zeddd's fix, and as such cannot confirm it.

I can confirm that this fix works for my 7950. It happens on any tessellated surface (rocky rubble, rough walls, etc.). I was just setting the "Object" graphic setting down to "Extreme" (which disables tessellation) though obviously doesn't look as good.

Changing Tessellation mode from AMD Optimized to 'Use Application Settings' worked like a charm, thanks :)

I don't use the CCC. I get better performance without it installed. How would I go about doing this/fixing this without installing that crap software.
