Storywise, you can play the 2nd without worrying about the first too much, where as playing 3 before 2, you would probably find it hard to make sense of what was going on.

I would honestly start with Crysis 1 though - even now it's still a stunner. And should be cheap as chips in the Steam sale coming up.

It's also a way better game than Crysis 2.

While I like 2 and 3, I have to say, I do prefer the way the first one plays, as it feels far more open than 2 and 3, they just feel much more restricted and linear than the first, not that they are bad, they just play different. though playing the 2nd in 3d is amazing (I have a 3d monitor), have not tried replaying 3 yet, not sure 1 has the option.

I am kind of thinking of re-buying the first one again on a sale, I actually have the orignal cd sitting in front of me, but between a couple of moves I have no idea where the box and code have gone .

Yep exactly. It's one of the best games ever designed IMO. Encompassing on the one hand easy to pick up and play, run and gun and on the other incredibly tactical gameplay depending on how you approach it.

Everytime I replay levels I discover all these paths that you never knew existed. Playing it on Delta difficulty is like a totally different game where you have to fully use the suit and the guns tactical weaponry (tranquiliser etc) I just loved that level of adaptibility and exploration.

Crysis 1 unfortunately is not designed for 3D like 2 and 3 and agree the 3D is amazeballs with 2 and 3. It's one of the games I use to show my mates what 3D is like. They wanna buy one right afterwards lol. 2 and 3 definately aren't as good gameplay wise as Crysis but they are still fun.

Do it man. I had on retail DVD too but why put up with old skool 10 year installation routines of DVDs. I decided to rebuy on Steam too since I luv it so much :)

Avoid Crysis 2. It is boring and shallow game with poor graphics made for last gen consoles.

Crysis 1 is miles better game both gameplay, story wise with big beautiful environment and challenging AI. Graphically it still one of the best games after 8 years.
