-make a .cfg file
-paste this:
cl_fov 80
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov 80
r_drawnearfov 80
where you can set the value yourself
-rename the file to autoexec.cfg and place it where the other crysis cfg game settings are
I have tried that. It seems they capped cl_fov to max 80. Cheat Engine is the only way I have got it past 80. Rather silly
Really? Huh, that is silly. Well, at least there's a workaround. How cumbersome is it to get it to work?
It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly I did it the same you'd do it in most games:
1) Start up cheat engine and the game.
2) Bound cheat engine to the game
3) Get into a level
4) Set your FOV to a specific number. Maybe through the console, but if the in-game settings tell you the number you can use that too. You need to know the specific number
5) Scan for that number
6) Change the FOV to another specific number.
7) Repeat step 5&6 until you get down to just a few values and try changing them. It is possible to have multiple entries for the same value.
Note: Cheat engine allows you to save the addresses and stuff. It doesn't always work, but you could try saving and maybe the next time you load the game up you don't have to search for it
Another note: You can also search for a range or values close to. For example: you could search for 70 and if the actual value is 70.2 it would still show up. This method will allow for more false positives however, so you will need to do more searching
Once you learn cheat engine it can be super awesome. I've used to for tons of games without FOV sliders, and also just to cheat in general. Some games (single player only) you just don't have time for the 'progression'.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for replying! Tho I'm lost on a few things. By binding cheat engine to the game you mean to find the process for the game and click open right? Also, once in a level I type in the console "cl_fov 90" but it always answers back with "cl_fov = 80 []" and doesn't go higher. I don't think their an in-game setting for FoV outside of the console. How do I "scan for that number"? And why do I change the FoV again there in step 6? I also don't see how to use Cheat Engine here as I don't see any options since nothing new appears in Cheat Engine when I bind the game. Just this: https://imgur.com/a/n0sNnAa
I don't really know almost anything about Cheat Engine so thanks again for any help you can give :)
Yup you bind the process which basically makes cheat engine search the game for values.
Yup so the console command is capped which means you cant go higher than 80. The number it respond with is probably the number it set your FOV to.
You'll want to set the CL_FOV to anything between 60-80 (The min and max). The number doesn't matter at all because you'll be force changing it with cheat engine.
So first, set your FOV to any number between 60-80. Lets call that X. Make sure the game runs for a second not on pause to make sure the value really did set. Hop over to cheat engine and type in X (The first value) in the value text box. Then click first scan
What this does is cheat engine is going to look over every single value in Crysis and look for any value that matches the value you typed in. This could be anything from player ammo count, health, time of day, movement speed, and most importantly: FOV.
So then off to the left you'll see a bunch of different addresses and values. Those are every single value in the game that had the value you typed in. Lets say you typed in 73 because that's what you typed into the console, problem is other things will have values of 73. Maybe for example a car in the world has 73 health. Or maybe an AI was thinking some arbitrary number 73. Doesn't matter, there will be a lot of 73s and only 1-3 of them will be the FOV value you want.
To correct this you'll want to do next scan. What this is doing is check all the values that came up in the first scan, and sees if they changed to the new number. Lets say you change your FOV to 69 and then do a next scan of 69. For example, that car that had a health value of 73 will be removed from the list because its value is not 69. However, the FOV value will remain because it IS 69.
But with a game as complex as Crysis there will be thousands of values. The statistical odds that some random unimportant value happened to be 73 and then 69 after the next scan is really high. So you'll have to do the process of elimination to get the all important FOV value.
Once though you get down to a few values you are confident are the FOV, you simply double click on them and they'll pop on down to the bottom of the window. From there double click on the value column of each entry and change it to what ever you want! Anything! Once you figure this out you can cheat in any single player game. Free money, XP, health, you name it.
So to recap let me give you an example of what I might do:
1) Start up Crysis, load up a world, open cheat engine and bind the process.
2) Use the console to set my FOV to 73. Run the game for a second to make sure the value changed
3) Do a first scan for 73
4) Hop over to Crysis again and change my FOV to 66 and run the game for a second or two
5) Do a next scan for 66
6) Repeat step 4&5 a few times until im confident that the values listed are the FOV
7) Double click them to add to bottom bar
8) Double click the value for each bottom bar entry and change it to whatever I want
9) file->save as so next time I can click file->load and save myself time (May or may not work. I find this works for some games, and not for others)
