Graphic settings explanation?
I've been trying to find a guide, ANY GUIDE, that tells me exactly what each of the advanced settings do so that I know what to disable to tweak for max performance vs max fps but I can't find anything that isn't either youtube videos showing the game running at max graphics, old articles about the old version's gamer, hardcore etc settings or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ called advanced graphic options utility which I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about.

So now, what the hell does those settings do?

try digital foundry, I haven't read the article since getting into pc's again, but I think they have a pretty good write up on what the difference between High and Ultra is.

Edit: this was when I was rocking an ol fx6300 and a gtx 680 though, but I managed to get that on mostly ultra with this game back then ;P

lol when since you posted this on the 25th you have had plenty of time to try all the settings :p

oops, wrong link.

Apparently the games readme contains all the infor on the graphic settings according to the 2nd post down, though I cannot verify this as not got it currenlty installed.

Actually I fixed the problem: I downgraded to windows 7. Somehow windows 10 which is supposed to have better performance and be less ressource-hungry actually bogged down every single games I had. I couldn't even play Max Payne 3 with the latest amd drivers and now I run it at 1080p 60fps with everything maxed out (aside from texelation because it induces polygon artifacts)

Now that I've installed windows 7, I can run Crysis 2 on ultra settings at 720p at an averate fps of roughly 40. it's not 60fps but I'm fine with that because I get to enjoy those (still awesome) 2011 graphics (seriously, that game and mass effect 2, what amazing graphics)

So the aesop here is: windows 10 sucks ass.

Funny I had the opposite when I installed, but then there are multiple reasons, older incompatible hardware/driver support etc....you really should not have experianced such a drop, something weird defo going on.

Glad you got it running though, enjoy :)
