how do i fix 50 fps cap with vsync?
it is common crysis 2 issue. when in full-screen mode vsync is broken and caps fps to 50, when in windowed mode it is working as intended, syncing my gpu refresh rate to my minotor (which is 60 fps).
disabling vsync gives me 140 fps and screen tearing. tried disabling vsync in the game, and enabling it via 3rd party softwares, like nvidia control panel, and d3overrider. same results. simple alt enter from full-screen into windowed fixes and uncaps fps, but then doing another alt enter to return to fullscreen caps fps at 50 once again.
pc specs: i7 4k, 960 gtx, 8 gb ddr3, win7

Changing the resolution to a different one, and then back to the desired one worked for me.

Another solution I found was to create a custom resolution, like 1919x1080@60, then setting that resolution ingame. You lose one line in the screen, but at least the screen frequency is fixed.

tried all of the above, got screen res to stay at 1080p @ 60 and could only manage 65 fps with a gtx 1080 v,sync off in game and in nvidia panel, surely thats wrong, nice graphics though

Go to your NVIDIA control panel and select crysis 2 under program settings and under "preffered refresh rate" select "highest available" save and play. I just found this out and wow the game runs smooth at over 140 fps. VSYNC off

That's weird. I couldn't find this option here. What's your GPU and driver?

maybe late but for those who still facing this problem.. try to rename or delete file c:\Users\...\Saved Games\Crysis2\game.cfg. Works for me

Thanks mate, seemed to fixed it!

Got the bug after I replaced my gpu :)

Either create a custom resolution in Nvidia.
Or disable ingame Vsync and use Fast Vsync in the Nvidia driver.
Or get a screen that only has a 60hz+ mode and no 24 or 50hz.
Disable fullscreen optimizations fixed 50fps for me.
pcgamingwiki:
-Right click the exe file and choose Properties.
-Select the Compatibility tab, and check Disable fullscreen optimizations.
-Hit apply and the game will now run at your monitor's native refresh rate.

Watch this video with step-by-step instruction that works in 2023-2024 guaranteed on any video cards by Nvidia while unlocks fps all the way to 1000 fps as tested.

I just found out tonight, if u are still struggling with a fps cap, use rivatuner and add crysis2exe to the list and set desired fps limit, it worked for me, and im on AMD which as u know is hard to get it to work,

its synced to monitor refresh rate if you're using a 50hz monitor (ex. a tv plugged in to your graphics card then this would be common) etc. or an old monitor or you could have nvidia control panel incorrectly setup
