Hmmm... not sure, to be honest. I think a large part of the game's atmosphere comes from the feeling of isolation you get from being alone. Resident Evil, Dead Space, FEAR - all very good horror series' whose atmospheres were somewhat spoiled by co-operative play. But on the other hand, Alan/Barry co-op action sounds pretty awesome. Seriously, I think the gameplay is well suited to co-op play, but the narrative, and everything else attached to it is not, for the most part.
Yeah co op kinda ruins the atmosphere, but it whould be awesome to play with a friend.
It whould be awesome if the game,if it has co op,kinda forces you to play like a team.
like Alan can only use firearms, but Barry or the Sherif, could only use light weapons :))))
i don't think that would make the game any better.
I think the game could have coop potential without breaking the finer elements of the game like the atmosphere etc. Remember the sections where you keep in touch with barry , they could have had more sections like that in co op , would have still not spoiled the gameplay and could have been done.
Secondly the only place where i do se co op working simultaneously with all the players togetther on the screen at the same time would be in AMERICAN NIGHTMARES now that could have worked out well.
Serious horror games should never be multiplayer. Just imagine how ridiculous it would be trying to play Amnesia with a buddy along for the ride, joking and talking about his date last night and eating doritos ... totally ruins the atmosphere. Horror is all about atmosphere and immersion. Add another person and you're pulling yourself out of it.
I don't think Alan Wake should EVER feature a co-op experience for the simple reason that it is based on one man and his decent into "A dark place", what he thinks is reality could be completely different to what everyone else sees.
For me Alan Wake is a awesome singleplayer game and I wish it stay that way.
I hope they don´t change this in a future Alan Wake 2.
No.
No not at all but then again I have no use for co-op ever so I could care less.

Maybe for American nightmare where you fight to survive that would be good with coop but not in the main game
But what if you want the atmosphere ruined? I think co-op would be a great feature to add.
Hey guys I bought this game today and I pass the recomended system settings but the framerate is really poor. Can anyone help me out and tell me why this is happening?
No co-op. That's what ruined Dead Space.
Co-op even ruins Borderlands. As primarily a MMO-player, I treasure the games where I can go at it alone. Co-op further is something that only exists as 'cool' in the mind of developers, because two developers trying their co-op out don't fool around trying to climb trees or something else stupid. Co-op ruins gameplay.
