Alan Wake 2 has not recouped it's development costs yet, despite being out for about 10 months now, and surely a Steam release will tip the game into profitability land very quickly.
Also, Epic Games have today acknowledged that many of their exclusivity arrangements 'were not good investments', and free games have been the biggest draw to the Epic Games Store ecosystem. (Free game claimers are apparently more likely to buy other games in that game's series on the Epic Games Store, according to Epic.)

I feel that Epic could be hinting that they may be considering relaxing their stance on exclusivity. After all, we're seeing less and less Epic exclusives in recent months, and UbiSoft for example, are increasingly investing more into their Steam presence (some of their games have just had Steam features added such as achievements).
Epic are increasingly starting to see Fortnite as a 'platform' in itself too, so I would imagine much of their focus would be geared towards that going forward, along with their mobile Epic Games Store ventures.
Alan Wake 2 would certainly be a day one purchase for me should it ever make the jump to Steam, and I'm getting increasingly hopeful that it will, particularly with the way Alan Wake 2 has performed, and the way Epic seems to be changing the way it approaches exclusivity.
Either way, there's plenty to keep me occupied on here until Alan Wake 2 gets here.

Requires an EGS account and that's how AW2 will make it to steam.
EPIC is the publisher and they see what sony is doing with their PC games and they WILL copy it. No matter what Timmy will come to steam when he needs to the money. AW2 wil not be on steam any sooner.
The Digital Deluxe edition is $35 on Epic right now. They're going to have to drop the price more than that to get me to but it on that platform
Youll probably be waiting another 6 years or so until the deal expires and publishing rights go back to Remedy. You missing out on a great game. So far I am really enjoying. All the little things they do to add to the lore and story, gameplay/action is better, and graphics are amazing. Looks sick.
Especially how you get to edit the story in real time and it changes the environment around you. Things like that are a welcomed edition to the game.
Overall if you want to play a game it really shouldnt matter what platform its available on. Just buy it and have fun.
The thing is Aw 2 is the fastest Selling Remedy game to date it just cost more to make and is on pase to make profit sooner than control did, I bet it has now broken even with the physical, and dlc release.
I just bought games when they are on-sale.
With Steam and EpicGamesPC, picking up games is now more convenient than ever before. So why not? Just enter my CC info and click download.
Alan Wake 2 for $24.99 is like two combo meals at McDonalds or Chic-fil-a. So for me it is a no brainer.
It is obvious at this point.
