Sound in Cutscenes is really high
Hi. I have the strange problem that the sound in cutscens is really high. It doesn't seem to be affected at all by the 'cinematic volume'' slider in the options which I left at 1 bar. All other sounds do respond to these sliders except for the cutscenes. Sound in cutscenes is about 5-10x louder then any other sound ingame which results in big sound explosions whenever a cutscene comes up. Does anyone know a fix for this?

  • Right clicking on the volume icon in the task bar
  • Select playback devices
  • Disable any sound playback devices except the default one you use

I think there is a "bug" where it uses other playback devices volume settings. Also, if you have surround sound headphones or setup, then go to the Alan Wake steam properties and click the "set launch options" then, add "-forcesurround" without quotes.

I guess you could just adjust the game's overall volume with the Windows Sound Mixer. I had the same issue back when I played it. I'd just advise you to put every slider in the game options to the max, and adjust it via Windows as stated above.
But then cinematics volume would be ok but ingame sound is very quiet right?

Sorry to drag up an old thread but did anyone find any other solutions? I've tried all above but no joy :(

Thought better to revive this thread than make a new one

bump

I have tried the suggestions given in this thread but they do not fix the issue. Every time a cinematic plays the volume just explodes.

Any other ideas?

my fix was to lower the "master volume" ingame cause just lowering the effects and/or the music didnt lower the cutsences for some reason

I found a slider in my Volume Mixer (from the sound icon in the system tray) called "The Lord of the Rings Online" (it only shows up if the game is running), and I turned this slider way down to 9. Cut scenes are now much softer, although they still come out of the headset whereas the game sounds come out of my speakers. And the in game sounds are still fine. So this slider seems to be unique to the cut scenes!

My problem with the game right now is that sometimes the sound of the cutscenes (even the gameplay once or twice) would be really low. Any idea why? Is it because of my OBS settings or its a glitch in the game? I've never had any problems with any other games so far.. Just this one.
