I think there is a "bug" where it uses other playback devices volume settings. Also, if you have surround sound headphones or setup, then go to the Alan Wake steam properties and click the "set launch options" then, add "-forcesurround" without quotes.
Thought better to revive this thread than make a new one
I am using windows 10 os.
I have tried the suggestions given in this thread but they do not fix the issue. Every time a cinematic plays the volume just explodes.
Any other ideas?
