Alan Wake 2 horrible?
I’ll write this here because it’s not even on steam (alread bad giveaway for anything tbh)

What’s up with this game? I can’t possibly believe how terrible it is. First the performance is a joke and it’s just outrageous. Barely runs on my new 4070 laptop. (Well without RT I can get over 100fps but then what’s the point in having an RTX gpu?). And even the graphics are far from impressive. There are many other photo-realistic games out there for a while now. Only way I’m guessing this thing has somewhat better graphics than those is with path tracing maxed out, but that is only available in the nolifer range so out of consideration for 99/100 users already…also it’s a dark game. Can hardly justify poor percormance when you’re rendering pitch blackness most of the time.

Gameplay wise it’s the most boring and fustrating experience I had for a while. I’m a huge fan of Resident Evil and especially like the 2 remake which is the most slow placed amongs them all. But this game is just poop in comparison. The story is a mess and it’s uninteresting. Combat is suprisingly poor and basic.

To sum it up this game is basically just a walking simulator in darkness with occasional jumpscares and shooting. I’ve seen better and more exciting combat in FATAL FRAME than in this. All of that while having unrealistically demanding performance for very average graphics behind it.

-10/10 refunded uninstalled

Alan Wake 2 is pretty bad. People who think it's genuinely good in any way, has a screw loose.

1) Constantly uses really dumb & bad jump scares that would embarrass Z-tier indie horror movies. (Game just constantly hard-cuts to full-screen zoom ins of scary faces! Boo!)
2) The majority of the game you're stuck as some random FBI lady, who they made black and rewrote her character at the last minute for additional funding (because it was really important Remedy makes their games as unnecessarily expensive as humanly possible).
3) Ties Alan Wake 2 into Remedy's Expanded Universe™, which in reality is just a cheap and silly way to market all of their games across their audiences.

Having said that, it's still entertaining from a "so bad it's good" perspective. You just have to make it past the first few hours of the game where virtually nothing happens and you just walk around collecting evidence and watching people talk (you can watch the entirety of "Braveheart" before something interesting happens).

And as for the optimization - yep. You basically need a 4090 to run it on high settings. The game was made to sell GPU's for NVIDIA.

I gave in and got it since I got it for around US $38 and it is far better than I was expecting and it looks amazing with full path traced lighting and maxed graphics.

I like the story, it isn't fast paced but it is keeping me interested, at least for the 10 hours or so I have played so far.

Not every game is suited to everyone but if people like how Remedy do things I think they will appreciate AW2.

-That doesn't mean the alan wake 1 forum is the place to put your junk review.

So you say it's boring and yet got refunded? Get outta here. AW2 is one of the bst and umique story titles in years and gameplay is really solid. Far better than re2 remake to me. That was boring and lackluster compared to original experience.

1. You can alter that experience in settings you know? It's mentioned early on in the game if you dislike them, imo they were very few anyway and I like them.
2. No it actually ties to mr. Door which you didn't notice.
3. Universe is a thing. There's actually a lot of story overlap in the titles and many cases it doesn't show up quite bluntly. Which shows you haven't actually played through many titles.

Also I think you might have screw loose🤪
