Restarting the game to collect missing collectibles

Hey guys, I wanted to know if, after finishing the game on Normal, I can restart it on Nightmare to get the exclusive manuscript pages, BUT ALSO the items I missed during my first playthrough (pages, signs, coffee thermos, and even one stupid radio and TV).

And if that is possible, I'd like to know if the ones I already got will have to be collected again, or just the ones I missed.

PS: I know I could try to check that myself by starting a new game on Nightmare, but I'm not sure if that might mess up my save data. This game has a strange saving system.

Yes, you can find all the stuff you missed on a second playthrough, even if it's on another difficulty setting. The thermoses you've collected and cans you've knocked over won't be there again, but the manuscripts will (The saving symbol will confirm that you've just picked up a manuscript you hadn't found before). And of course, the signs, radios, ammo boxes, and TVs will be just like the manuscripts.

Also, if you know which Episode or "half" of Episode the missed items are in, you can just start from the beginning of that section (but it will overwrite your last save).

I have missed items in every episode (few though, dang it), so it's better to start a new game.

I second what Vic said.

If I may add a little bit more information, it's almost the same in Alan Wake's American Nightmare except that already collected manuscript pages won't be there anymore, at least that's what I noticed when I got the 3 pages I had missed during my first playthrough.
