FYI, this thread is about upcoming physical release. Has nothing to do with development costs at all. Plus, they never factored out a physical release. Just that it would not come at the same time of the digital release of the game.
This thread's sole focus is directed on the physical copies being released in the fall. Letting the fans know by bringing it to their attention. Regardless of how the game is selling. Especially if they were the ones who were willing to wait for a physical copy to buy the game.
If you want, open your own thread on that and please do not attempt to derail this thread any further. Thanks!
My comment is directly tied to the fact that they waited almost an entire year before releasing physical copies of the game...which has impacted the companies sales. Furthermore, the game referenced doesn't even exist on Steam itself and is exclusive to the EGS since it was funded by Epic Games, so the topic probably shouldn't exist on the Alan Wake Steam forum since it's unrelated to begin with.
No, it is not. Remedy nor Epic ever said they would possibly release a physical edition based on how the game is selling good or bad. It was always up in the air even when they were asked this before the game released. THQ Nordic even chimed in saying they would work with Remedy again to make it happen.
So this is all your own personal assumptions being made up by you.
Also, this is an open forum. We can post what we want. So its def on topic in that regard since its about AW. Just shows you trying to dictate what you think should or should not be allowed on steam. Too bad you are not in charge though eh.
I am glad this is an "Open Forum" then as I believe it was originally revealed that they would not be making physical copies of the game as originally intended;

"When Remedy announced Alan Wake II wouldn’t be released as a physical game ahead of its October 2023 release, it was a bummer. Not just because fans wouldn’t get to have something to put on their shelves, but because it was adding to a worrying trend for video games: game publishers are getting comfortable only releasing their games digitally, which sucks for fans who like physical merch, but is especially ****** for people who live in rural areas without great internet. But now that Alan Wake 2 has been out for a little under a year, Remedy is giving fans something to put on their shelves."
This would then come to fruition with the recent announcement, almost 1 year later as to where the game still has not recouped it's development costs. Even though it's not Remedy funded, it is for EGS, where it is still and will likely remain an exclusive over on their store for PC and that these physical copies are only console editions.
"On October 22, Alan Wake 2 will get a physical Deluxe Edition that will retail for $79.99. It will include the game, all the contents of the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Expansion Pass that gives you the Night Springs and Lake House DLCs, a reversible cover art, and a digital copy of the original Alan Wake remaster. Two months later, Remedy will release a bigger Collector’s Edition courtesy of Limited Run Games. This big box of stuff will cost $199.99, but comes with a lot more stuff. On top of all the above, it will include a replica of Alan’s Angel Lamp, a keychain and key replica for the Ocean View Hotel, a pin set, and an art book. Both of these will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Sorry, PC players."
That's a pretty hefty price tag, and I'm sure that those additions in the collectors edition cost them additional money to produce, so they have more costs to recoup now too. Thankfully though, those Physical Edition seekers that were once lauded at previously will have something to look forward to since the game is no longer Digital Only with it's 95% sales numbers.
Edit: Apparently they're adding in a photo mode in an update today aswell. Nice!
It says it is available right now, but I dont see it.
"You can pick up Alan Wake 2 and the new Night Springs expansion now on the Epic Games Store."

Yeah, my game hasn't updated yet. I'm not still not seeing it either. Hopefully it'll pop-up around noon.
Man I can't wait to see what Rose's story is about. I kinda hope her's will be a sorta mini-prequel of sorts.
Nice, mine as well. 2% here we go! 15.1GB update.
I noticed they fixed the alt-tab crash, that's nice! -- I don't if this was just a 'me' issue but before the update today game would consistently CTD if I alt-tabbed in fullscreen mode IF my current in-game resolution didn't match my actual desktop resolution(my screen is 4k, but I play AW2 in 1440.)
