Alan Wake
Alan Wake II is an absolute travesty compared to the first one
I can't understand how it got such high reviews. It's just awful. The Mind Place? The light thing going back and forth?? It just feels like such cheap additions instead of a clear, linear story with Saga looking for Allen. It had so much potential; I absolutely love the Saga and Casey duo.

The second game is boring asf, alan wake 2 should be called Saga wake 2 lol. Me personally i also liked alan wake 1 more than 2
at the same time I had a very hard time getting into Alan Wake 1, it wasn't fun for me, but with Alan Wake 2 I have been enjoying it greatly and find it to be a massively better game than the first game.
Sadly i have to agree, dont understand why they was changing so much.
New genre (from action to pure survival horror, new protagonist (was playing more with the girl then with alan), new elements like the mindplace which become total tiresome after a while. Most of the changes wasnt very good and i must confess that i even enjoyed american nigthmare far more then alan wake2.
Saga Wake 2 is not selling very well. Not even sure it is ever coming to Steam.

And yes. You play most of the campaign as Saga Anderson.

I think this will be their last game. And Alan Wake franchise may die off now.

Alan wake and control are in the same universe and I'd be surprised if either go anywhere. Personally I really enjoyed playing through AW2 and hope for more.

If you don't like a game there are other ones out there you might enjoy, not every game is made with you in mind. There are lots of games out there I have no use for but you won't find me wasting my time in there forum.

Since no game is called "Saga Wake 2", of course it's not selling well. A non existent game doesn't sell at all.

I've been playing Alan Wake 2 for about ten hours, and I'm just going to say that it rides on the weirdness narrative of Control, but lacks everything that made Control great. I don't know whether Alan Wake I is better (I mean, from nostalgia goggles, I remember having enjoyed it as a mystery thriller with some horror elements that was inspired by Steven King), but Alan Wake 2 is definately not up my alley...

The first hours of the game was the best for me. Alan Wake 2 had some great locations and amazing graphics but the constant backtracking and the tiny inventory was made the game very annoying (the first game was straight forward with always new maps).
Another ugly thing is that it is not worth to fight the enemies, if you kill them and walk a bit away they all respawn, thats why you spend most of the time running.
Was replaying the first alan wake a while ago and it is still a fantastic game, a shame that they went in the total false direction at the sequel (at least for my taste).
My main complaint is that it's too confusing with scenes and changing prompts/cards or whatever they are called
Near the end you have to backtrack and change prompts backwards
Or maybe I'm just too stupid

If Remedy kept the same Alan Wake 1 recipe, you would have said that it's the same repetitive game with better graphics. You would have called it boring and pointless.
You would have accused the devs that they just relied on the nVidia and the graphics and forgot to develop a game.

The game won the Best Game Direction for a reason.
Remedy have the balls to move from copying Alan Wake 1 to creating something new.
It would have been ridiculously easy for them to just increase the action scenes and reduce all the narratives and cutscenes.

It's a survival horror game with linear story and gameplay.
It's not an action one, it's not a detective-y one, it's not whatever else you might want it to be.
Probably, it's the fact that my GPU is too weak (I mean, it is too weak, it does not even support mesh shaders, but runs the game on 30-50 FPS depending on the area), because at times the gameworld reverts to being almost liquid form and you can't differentiate where the hell you are, so I cannot fully enjoy the graphics or whatnot, but, um, travelling with Wake around the rooftops in order to get to Oceanview Hotel, made me quit the game (and according to wikia, I was so close to solving the puzzle of getting in, but ♥♥♥♥ it, I ain't playing it no more). In my about 9 or 10 hours of playtime, I can only describe Alan Wake 2 as... walking puzzle solving simulator with some combat involved. Mind you, these types of games could be good, if done interestingly, sadly, this was not one of them. Also, when the highlight of an entire playthrough is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ musical section wherein for the most part you just walk on a higlighted path, um, there's something wrong with the game design...

And that's coming from a guy who liked all of Remedy's games. So, I was stumped when after the intiial introduction when you get control of Josh Whedon looking naked ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and then Saga in the morgue, the game just becomes this "bleh".

I really don't understand what they were thinking making her pretty much the main character, when nobody asked for this ESG compliant move. What really makes this sting all the more for me is that this was the last game we will ever get James Mccaffrey voice acting in. I may have to resort to buying it just for that fact alone but it isn't really the send off I think he deserved

ESG points, virtue signaling, white guilt... take your pick.
