Then they announced that they droped the open world part and then mod support. In the end they said it was then only going to be a 360 only title. But released it for both.
It would take a month just to walk from one side of the map to the other..
It could have totally been a high quality, AAA Deadly Premonitions.
I disagree. The game could have been a disappointment if it were OW. Simply because we probably wouldn't have gotten the same focused narrative and experience that the final product became (Which I personally enjoyed thoroughly).
Now, that's not to say the original concept was bad or that I dislike OW games, to the contrary, some of my favorite games of the past decade have been OW/Sandbox games.
I've never played Deadly Premonition so I cannot compare the two, however, from what I do know it's more humorous/silly than AW although it does share that quirky, macabre little town vibe with odd residents etc. I need to check that game out.
I hope we finally get another Alan Wake game, and maybe the sequel will be closer to their original concept in an OW or at least large hubs, that could work.
Yeah there is a mod for this game.
Yodas Raytraced Retro Studios @ youtube.
Its DX9. Theres also another plug in no one has used yet. Texmod would probably work. I just havent gotten to that stage of drudgery. It requires you to per object flag the depth buffer as you play to get access to the textures to upscale them with a.i. to inject later. Its believe me a pain in the ass, but it appears to work in basically every DX9 title in existence making it an attractive future potential.
