PLayed both steam version and epic remaster of alan wake , honestly , remaster is useless . minimal changes and color adjustments (for the worse) and Steam version is working flawlessly on modern hardwares .
Steam versionis way better , epic remastered is just money grab (they are giving it away for free while buying Alan Wake 2 tho )

They increased the amount of props, so like... theres now more objects in the environment such as wooden crates etc.
The only gameplay difference is that they made it easier for some strange reason, the game was already too easy to begin with. They added 2 flare guns in every chest (this not only makes the game easier but also makes it feel imbalanced because now the most powerful gun in the game always has way too much ammo). They also increased health regeneration.
Remaster has been making a profit for some time now. AW2 is about to make profit really soon. It hasn't sold terribly on EGS at all, about 1/3 of the sales happened though EGS, at around 600k copies. Prior to a recent update people were able to use a web browser inspect element and see in the code the number of owners that earned an achievement. It was at around 650k before the winter sale 2024. That is about 1/3 of the total sales which is pretty normal for a PC + console release.
Even Capcom has stated their games don't recoup development costs until about 1 to 1.5 years after release, that doesn't even include marketing costs. AW2 has vast majority of development + marketing costs recouped in 11 months.

Even if AW2 hasnt recouped costs. It doesnt affect Remedy at all. As they already made a profit from signing the exclusive deal with Epic. Remedy didnt spend a cent on anything related to AW2. EGS cover all costs.
Epic is still worth tens of billions. Remedy is still developing multiple games.
AW2 sales had zero effect on either company. So whats your point?
Again, it didnt effect Remedy or Epic in the slightest. Remedy moved on to now publishing their own games, and AW is going to get another sequel at some point. Along with TV content. As Remedy already made this clear how important it is to them and its included in their future business model.
So it looks like you haters are making zero difference in the outcome of Epic, Remedy, and future of AW. Even if the game sold poorly in "your" eyes. Its business as usual and both companies are still doing what they do.
Remedy just released another really good patch for AW2. It now supports DLSS 4 and improved the games performance with RTX Mega Geometry. They still supporting the game well over 15 months later with really good improvements.
So hate away if you want. But it really isnt getting you anywhere.
