The game is almost entirely jump scares.

Seriously. Almost every interaction in the game is some startling music and the sudden apperance of enemies.

Having said that, it's not super scary.

On the scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is "Dead Space with the lights off and headphones on", this game is a 5 or 6.

It can be tense, but it's not horror.

well i would say it had somewhere around 10 of them. Some are in the cinematics where Alan sees nightmares, sometimes they are in a gameplay where quiet place turns a hell hole in a second (like random stuff falls from the sky dangerously close and in a very unexpected way). But you will be ok, just make sure not to play this game at 100% volume. Also, most of the time game is more a thriller, which builds tension using music and uncomfortable surroundings\ never ending enemies from all sides while you are lost in the woods, etc
