Alan Wake low fps. No no, the first one.
Hey everyone. I was seeing all the hype for for Alan Wake 2 so I decided to buy the first game on steam while it was on sale since Iv never played it. The problem is the performance is terrible on my brand new pc. It still drops below 60 on low setting. I’m using a 6700 xt and a 5600x3D. But get this, I also installed the game on my older gaming laptop that has 1650 in it and it maxed the game out with no problems whatsoever. Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? and before you ask, my drivers are up to date and don’t have any problems with other games. Control runs great for example.

Yeah the performance wasn't all that great on my 5700XT. Unfortunately, the hasn't been optimized well in general but it seems to be worse for AMD GPUs. I don't think there is a solution beyond swapping out for an nvidia card and even that it's a coin toss.

That's weird. Drop anti-aliasing to 2x, see if if that helps.
fwiw over the years I've only ever played AW1 with a Radeon gpu (incl a 5700xt). Never had fps issues.

For anyone else who had this problem, DXVK fixed it. There was some shudder compilation stutter at first but it was gone after less than an hour of playing

Not low at all unless you turn on Ray Tracing. I have a 7900 XT and I get 85 with VSync set to 85. Mixed HIgh and Ultra 1440P FS2. No Ray Tracing. Sure its higher infact.
