Is it worth buying this or Remastered?
Never played Alan Wake before.

Thank you!

I refunded the remaster because Alan's face looks dreadful in the new version. Yes, maybe that's petty, but the original version looks way better. The original also runs fantastically and still looks amazing.

The "remaster" (more like a demaster) looks much worse than this original release. The textures in the remaster are just awful, there's less detail in them. And the the lighting looks better in the original and creates a better atmosphere.
I wouldn't recommend the remaster to anybody. Get the original game instead.

oh my god.. I always ask myself why pretty much every so called remaster end up being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...
Alan looks like a stupid monkey in the remaster lol

He looks like a robot

I don't get why so many dislike Alan's looks in the remastered so much. He now resembles his voice and live actor better, while in the original you can barely tell that he looks like Ilkka Villi, unless you look at him from certain angles.

I would buy the original with american nightmare pack,it is still cheaper than the remaster has MORE content, more fog, shadow art style is preserved from OG Xbox360 but ground/vechile textures look noticably lower res by today standards,I think many remastered high res stuff f-ed up character models and they look worse art style wise.

The original also runs WAY WAY better than the DX 12 remastered one,if you are below 4 GB VRAM don't even bother with remaster.Remaster barely looks better than the original maxed.
Gameplay is the same, but remaster is more expensive and does not include american 's nightmare standalone action heavy expansion.
Edit:The remaster also does NOT feature direct aim........
Agree for the most part, except for the models.

So, OP, if you aren't really picky about graphics, I highly recommend to grab Alan Wake Franchise pack on Steam. If anything, don't worry about the DLCs, they are already included in the Steam version. Also, I am not sure if remaster comes with extra goodies that are on Steam (Collector's Edition Extra and Bonus Materials).

I checked the prices. Epic's remastered version for $29 versus Steam's for $15. Went with Steam and have no regrets. Not paying that amount for a ten year old game.

First time to play Alan Wake as well for me.

I decided to check on Alan Wake after playing Remedy's Control Ultimate Edition. A lot of references in Control to Alan Wake and Bright Falls made me decide to finally play this game.

However since I can play the game on Xbox in 4K resolution with some additional content, I decided to go with the Remastered Edition instead on console instead of settling for the original version that first came out in 2012.

The standalone game American Nightmare is also on Gamepass(PC as well as Xbox) but I am thinking of playing it on my Xbox instead of PC since that version actually has achievements unlike the PC version.

AWAN has achievements on Steam, but not on EG.
