I beat you heard of Quantum Break, it's the game from the same guys that made this one.
An absolute must play. Set in the same universe as Alan Wake. Made by Remedy. It's fairly cheap and a steal when on sale. Quantum Break explains why the world of Alan Wake is the way it is and that story continues in Control. A brilliant trilogy of games.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a classic and probably the best of game of its type. But theres virtually no gameplay to it.
Outlast is really good. Not as narratively strong but still pretty interesting. Can't speak for the sequel, haven't played it.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was ok. Very short, only about 4 hours to complete.
The original Dead Space and Bioshock both have really good stories, but there's more gameplay there than with the others I mentioned. They're more traditional action games with rpg elements.
Probably the best environmental story experience I've had in a game, and that's after 40-ish years of gaming. And yeah, it can be hard, so cheat if you want to. I did. It made the whole "super powers" aspect of the game shine even brighter for me.
For me, Remedy is kind of cursed. They can do great gameplay or great story telling but not both at the same time.
