IO failure error code 0
For anybody having the same issue I just had with starting this game. If a message pops up on startup saying IO failure error code 0 resolution .xml

Go to your file explorer and type Remedy into the search bar. If you have more than one game by Remedy on your PC just figure out which one is linked to Alan Wake. Open the file that should be named Alan wake, you should see the .xml file there. No joke just delete that ♥♥♥♥ and start the game problem solved. I hate my life I spent way too much time looking for an answer to this problem.

so far im getting the error code with resolution.xml, yet i cant find that particular file anywhere. maybe im missing it and have to download it?

actually i found it. i get the error code, i see the exact path of files to take going from users>my name>onedrive>documents>remedy>alanwake>resolution.xml. that resolution.xml cannot be deleted, but if i cut and paste it to desktop, suddenly alan wake works again.

The problem I have with the game is that when I start the game it goes at 1 fps and it doesn't increase, I followed the instructions they gave, but it didn't work. I did the cut and paste thing on the desktop but it stayed the same. and the worst thing is that the file is regenerated every time I open the game
