HELP PLEASE! No Checkpoints/Saves and Glitches

When I'm playing and I get through something no 'checkpoint reached' or 'saving' is appearing. As for the glitch/bug that's been happening, I'm in the Lover's peak part where you need to protect the kidnapper with some flares at the entrance of the stairs , after the kidnapper unlocks the gate to the stairs and climbing up to lover's peak he just stays by the sign and the next objective is not triggered. The next objective should be fighting more of the taken in the lightpost.
What seems to be the problem here? And how can i fix it? It's impossible for me to move forward in the game if this is not resolve

Are you NEVER seeing "Checkpoint Reached", like in this video at 0:59, in the top left corner below the current objective??

Good News! i got past the part where the kidnapper just stops in the sign after the objective with the flares. I don't know what happened but now I can continue playing the game. before, there wasn't any "checkpoint reached" like at 0:59 in the part where i'm climbing to Lover's Peak. this Glitch/Bug happened too when I'm at 10:41 no checkpoints and the wooden gate that's supposed to open didn't. also at 13:12 no checkpoints and enemies are showing.

I saw the "Checkpoint reached" message in that video you posted a link to. And he ran ahead of the kidnapper, don't do that. Stick together and protect him, let him protect you. He broke the game's mechanics is all.
