Odd quote about a door in Bird Leg Cabin at beginning of the game

When Alan's wife Alice goes missing close to the beginning of the game, once they get to Bird Leg Cabin, Alan says something odd that I can't figure out what it means.

You go back to the cabin and on the bottom floor, at the back of the house, is a door leading out onto the back porch. It's slightly open when you get there, and Alan says something like..

"That old door tricked me. She would never go out in the dark like that."

It just seemed a really odd thing to say about the door. As if it had some conscious ability to deceive Alan. Nothing inanimate in the game at this point had shown any signs of "self-motivation", unlike later. Maybe a continuity error, or maybe a translation issue? The game designers are Finnish.

{and this ONLY happens if you don't go outside on the back porch the first time you have access to the cabin.. you have to ignore the back door, then go get the power on, then when Alice starts yelling for help, you have to go to that back door and you get that dialog}

You are reading too much into it. I think it's more of a "I saw the door move and it was just the wind but it scared me at first. Alice would never go out at night so it couldnt be her".

Oh, does it move? Been meaning to reload an older save and re-check this. If it moves, then that explains it. I've just never seen it move is all.

I'm not sure, actually. But I assume that's the implication!

Loaded a previous save, restarted the game, and now I can't even get that line to play at all! It's even more strange now. Oh well.

Ikr. This is going to become an obsession to get it to trigger again.

Game DVR isnt working in Alan Wake either. Wouldn't be able to record it anyway. Best I can hope for will be a screenshot.

I'm going to finish my playthrough tonight or tomorrow and I will start a Nightmare run. I'll try to have a look!

I thought I had figured it out yesterday, when i retraced my steps exactly (tried to).

But, I went down to the shed with the generator before going inside, but that didn't trigger the dialog. I have no idea, but guess there might be a factor of randomness involved. Wouldn't think so though.
