DXGI Error issue
so bought the game, everything was fine. went to get coffee from the counter (5 steps or so), came back and it had crashed. wierd, so i restarted the game and the loading screen came up. the loading screen hit 100%. i could hear the background sounds that was in game before the crash (birds, rivers and wind). hangs there for a second and gives me a DXGI Error. when i restart the game i never see the menu, it just crashes.

ended up doing a bunch to try and resolve it. I should note that every game i play is giving me the DXGI error at this point which was not the case before playing BG3.

Here is what i did to try and resolve the issue:
  • regedit
  • clean app data
  • cleared cache
  • verified files
  • upgrade bios, cpu, gpu.
  • downgraded the gpu
(when i found out the other games didnt work, i reverted the graphics card
...the older version didnt work either and now at the latest version
    again)
  • repaired all C++ redistribution files
  • Used MSI afterburn to Underclock GPU and set the voltage
  • lowered all the graphic to the lowest setting using Geforce Experience
  • redownloaded direct x 11
  • tried Vulcan
  • reinstalled the game

Here is what i know about the issue. The error happens when the graphics card is taking longer to respond than what is needed, the system does this to safeguard the graphics card. the regedit fix overwrites thous parameters to allow the gpu to workout the code. but i dont think thats the case. i think the game crashed the system is trying to load it back to the location before going into the menu.

if anyone has any ideas id greatly appreciate it. I only have 1 actual hour trying to play this game with 10 hours or trying to get it working.

I am not sure why you linked video or article, yadayada, stuff.
What I am missing in your listing is

DDU
Performance settings and status
and DxDiag report

It would be also good if you share your reg edit to clarify that you did the thing people expect you did when you write such, and not by accident something else.

Since it is almost midnight, probably someone else will have resolved your issue by the next time I check on the forums. Good night ~

NVIDIA GPU right, as per Geforce EXP?

So this is usually a driver issue.
I am guessing when you mean GPU upgrade you mean you installed the latest version of the driver.
First, try to revert back to the previous STABLE version.
If issue persists revert back to the prior STABLE version.
If issue still persists revert back one more time to the prior STABLE version.
(So try it out on 4 different stable versions of the driver.)
If the issue persists on all of them then there is some small hidden issue with the driver, and you need to cleanly reinstall it.
Usually you need DDU or something similar to remove the driver completely from your computer. Then reinstall the driver this should fix it.

If i recall well アンジェル should have some guides on how to do these steps.

I have almost a guide on every freaking troubleshooting matter. :lisr_chloe_laughing:
Mainly because my "main guide" gets ignored... or at least as one of the main reasons.
The actual main reason is that I am not fond of repeating myself, hence the guides... :spacehamster:

You might be surprised. I even have one for junctions/symlinks and RAMDisk combo (somewhat).

Yeah but you did not link it this time:P (And neither did i:) Was late, i made typos in my replies, and was not coherent in linking and not:D
Btw your screenshot about the the Gauntlet of Shar and the KNOCK spell, the screenshot seems to lack evidence you used knock. (The log is closed so we cannot see it:S)

That is fair. I made it in a hurry half venting half helping. It did not cross my mind that anyone would question it at that point ~ as in: what reason should I have to deceive anybody by then? I was under the assumption people seeing that I still have the gems with me is sufficient that there is a way without using them.

Also, I do not know how long that workaround works. I made a proper report to Larian Studios with details etc. etc. pp. so they can patch that, what I consider an exploit. It is too ridiculous if you think about it that you do not need a single Umbral Gem to get past the door. So in my point of view it needs fixed.

Ton of stuff needs fixed still:P No clue why they rushed the publishing, since it should have been obvious Starfield will botch it:) (As per recent history of Bethesda. Spent a ton of marketing and managed to publish crap. ME:AndromedaXD)

It is because of the organisational delay. Take this information with caution: patch#6 was supposed to be released weeks ago. There was an artificial delay to allow it to be released simultaniously with the Mac version. It did not work out and the schedulde fell more and more behind.

If it was not released last week, the teams would have encountered issues this week while starting their work on patch#7.

There is no actual rush - it is the other way around. They had delayed it. The issues which can be seen after releasing the patch are mostly all over the same.

Mods and bad levelcache of people not cleaning that. You have a good idea what it means when using the levelcache of an old version of an app with a new version of an app.

It might be a valid complain to ask why there is no autopurge of the old levelcache. Well, there is. It just ever so often fails on certain OS settings which limit file access. For Windows and Mac alike.

It is often as banal as this one

amazing guides アンジェル i am currently looking over the beginners guide and im learning a lot. i have the DxDiag report and will post it later today when i get home. I have also downloaded the DDU you recommended and will also be doing that later today. thank you for your patience. I will also post my perfomance stats as well

Let us hope it helps with your issue. DXGI errors like you have is one of the more difficult ones as the issue lies most of the time in external matters, such as defective hardware / lack of power. Nonetheless it is still meaningful to check on the software side as you already started with, to outrule any overseen software settings which might be the cause of it - such as the performance settings for the OS e.g. because your initial description made it sound like a laptop.

The default settings laptops, I know it from personal experience, are often not gamer-friendly.

its not a laptop im sorry for the confusion.
which part of the DxDiag did you need me to post? (NVM I just noticed you also had another guide on it )
im lacking a second keyboard (one that is not bluetooth) to enter safe mode and do the DDS
