File Verification Error on Game Launch [FIXED]
When I attempt to launch the game with verified files and an up-to-date graphics driver - I get prompted by the Larian Crash Reporter saying that:
"An error has occurred, and the game has quit unexpectedly."

Paired with a File Verification Error message saying:
"An error occurred that may be caused by problems in your game installation. Do you want to verify your installation the next time you launch the game?"

I've since then:
- Verified my game files
- Confirmed my Graphics Driver is Up-to-Date
- ran chkdsk on both my OS drive and Game Install Drives
- Ran other Steam games and Non-Steam games without error
- Launched the game as Administrator
- Launched from DX11 and Vulkan
- Verified no Mods are Installed
- Tried running in High Performance Mode

I will be trying a fresh re-install to see if that fixes anything. Very strange issue overall just played the game last week with no issues - couldn't tell you what may be causing the problem now. If anyone has any insight on this matter I'd appreciate it.

UPDATE: I got BG3 to launch now, I ended up running the Larian Launcher Application as admin, you can do so by going to its properties in your install folder and changing it inside of your compatibility settings. Additionally, I also recommend doing this for the BG3.exe and BG3dx11.exe file as well.

Not sure why things decided to fail all of the sudden, hopefully it gets addressed so that PC Players dont need to crack their heads over this thing. They made a far too addicting game for it to be having launch issues.

I had an issue where the game doesn't run.... Find the executable file.... bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe.... right click and run from desktop... BUT BEFORE YOU DO... turn off Steam. Unless your save are on your SSD, you might not have them... but it ran for me... HOURS and HOURS of trying different things... turning off Steam allowed me to run it.

Hey, so basically my Girlfriend also has this Problem and I did all the steps you're listing in your guides. None the less, also regarding the top post, it still is keep on crashing every now and then, with the error that the original poster is having, aka.

"An error occurred that may be caused by problems in your game installation. Do you want to verify your installation the next time you launch the game?".

It doesn't crash on particular events, rather every now and then.
What would be the next step to try and fix the issue at hand?

Thank you for helping in advance!

The next step would be checking your girlfriend's DxDiag and Windows event viewer to figure out what exactly causes the crash. I recommend sharing your findings in a new thread for better visibility, as each case is individual, and so is this one.

For example, when I first saw this is an old thread I was about to ignore your post at first since it (the thread) is marked as resolved.

I have also setup a very extensive guide by now to check on pretty much every possibilitiy, though not sure if you can work on that with remote diagnosis as stuff like hidden background apps and overlays are very hard to pinpoint?

Good luck!
and maybe see you in a new thread :mhwgood:
