Increasing input lag/delay in late Act 1 (2025)
Hi there. Yes yes. this is another topic about input lag/delay in Baldur's Gate 3.

There was no such problem whatsoever during most of my playthrough in act 1, but i had a bad feeling that something is micro lag on input starting to appear, especially when I dumped a lot of trash to the merchant in Grove. At the time in was something possible to ignore, but at the end of underdark/grymforge ♥♥♥♥ really hit the fan.

Not only those 3-5 seconds input delays make turn based combat painfully slow - now it also break AI forcing it to skip turns for no reason. Sometime loading recent saves helps a bit, sometime not, sometime input lag disappears by itself via miracle... sometime even restarting game doesn't help.

I couldn't figure out whole correlation of causes and outcome there.
The only thing that I notes: issue increase over time slowly and dramatically fast after conversation with multiple npc.
Yet again, if I load the very old save file right at first arrival to Grove for example - everything butter smooth again as it was and should be, during combat or conversations alike.

Now, asking for help by a internet strangers is a desperate thing to do, but I tried to search for solution silently and failed, non worked for me. Most of the mentions of such issue are about Act 3 anyways to which I'm nowhere near, some others mention Act 1 regarding the guard statues witch I never break.

Only the symptoms are same, but not specific trigger is seems: graphic settings, dx11/vulkan, updating drivers, cpu/gpu/memory does not load close to 100%, mods/no mods - NON OF IT MATTERS, NO EFFECT. The only thing I didn't tried is moving game from HDD to SSD (silly me thought for turn based game HDD would be enough) but I only meet mentions that it helps with game loading time not actual gameplay.

If I miss some recent solution to this "input lag/delay" problem that you know of - please let me know.

Well that is most likely to be the issue,

Provide more details of your PC specs if you wish, but this game NEEDS to be on an SSD. And you need to have plenty of free space.

The game loads a lot of save files, you can restrict them, but most people don't. And the more useful items that you store, and/or the further that you get into the game the more data it has to store each and every time. If you still have Steam Cloud Storage on, then that is even more work for your poor PC.

Read through this handy guide, it has lots of tips that may not only boost your BG3 experience, but will often make your PC run better in general.
