BG3 Crashing

Well... I give up. Have scoured the forums and help topics, completed innumerable reinstallations, verifications and tests, put my system into everything from the lowest possible graphics mode to the highest, tested network issues, checked drive formats...

,,,and the bloody game keeps crashing. Sometimes it'll let me play for a while (usually when starting a new game), sometime it crashes as soon as I try to load / continue - but crash it inevitably does, kicking me out back into Windows and asking if I'd like to verify my files one more time as surely *this* time it'll work.

Yuck.

I was so looking forward to playing this apparently amazing game, too!

SSD size and free space?

How much free space on C:? Is it a SSD? NVMe? Is the game installed on a SSD?
In your energy options is the setting on high performance?
Any mods installed?
Clean your local TMP folder, and BG3 cache files (on steam you find a guide for it).
Deactivate autostarts in task manager, restart, have no other applications open, deactivate virus scanner, put PC in plane mode, if any other background security programs are installed, deactivate them, too. --> start the game without launcher.
Properties under launch options add: --skip-launcher

Maybe with a resource monitor you can find out about what creates the issue. But I am not sure how it helps to solve it.

Hope that Patch 6 next week helps.

Worst case, put your OS back to the original state.

I love how everyone always asks how your rig is set up. It isn't people's rigs, it's the game unfortunately. I mean even their crash report tool doesn't work, it always says failed to submit reports. I love the game and fully support them for making it. But Larian has to take the burden off of everyone trying to play the game and put it on themselves to make a more stable platform. People shouldn't be asked to troubleshoot for hours as the norm.

You are mistaken.
Especially with your last comment you ignore the fact that most people have no issues at all.

my game has crashed twice and made me reinstall the 140GB game over again

That's strange, since apparently the game works flawlessly for almost everyone...

i have more than 150 hours into bg3 without crashing or any bug. since the last patch/hotfix its unplayable and crashes every 5-10 minutes. im playing coop with a friend and if its not crashing on my side it crashed on his side. so its even worse....
reinstalled it, updated drivers and so on, but the fact it just starts the day with the patch is a strong sign for me that there is something wrong....
