Tiefling + Ranger = Fire Immunity
Tieflings ... takes only half fire damage
Ranger - Wasteland Wanderer: Fire ... takes only half fire damage

Do these stack, yielding Fire Immunity ? Should they ?

sad remains of Pnp Dnd adaptation cos there you want simple rules so people don't have to do to much math. So we only get two options 50% resists or 100% called Immunity.

i'm pretty sure nothing stacks in DnD :) someone correct me if i'm wrong. cos again that's to complex for people i guess.

I don't know what you are talking about, fire resistance didn't stack in 4ed or 3.5 either.

Different "kinds" of resistances stack, so if you have Magic resistance and Fire resistance, if hit by a fire spell you would take 25% ( damage x 0.5 x 0.5) If I remember what I read correctly.

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/5e_SRD:Damage_Resistance_and_Vulnerability

Multiple instances of resistance or vulnerability that affect the same damage type count as only one instance. For example, if a creature has resistance to fire damage as well as resistance to all nonmagical damage, the damage of a nonmagical fire is reduced by half against the creature, not reduced by three-quarters.

Yeah most things don't stack in DnD especialy resistance or spell immunities but you can combine stuff well like you can get the shield master feat that gives
Gain a +2 bonus to Dexterity saving throws when wielding a Shield. If a spell forces you to make a Dexterity saving throw, you can use your reaction to shield yourself. On a successful save, you take no damage

So with a high dex Character you'd mostly get no damage at all and sometimes 1/2 or in final game you can level rogue or monk to level 7 and get evasion then your down to 0 or 1/4... not to shabby...

or you could be 50% resist to 2 things, which is still a very durable character.
