Back then it was tied to spontaneous arcane spellcasting
Yes, but the ability to spontaneously cast arcane spells was attributed to having a magical creature somewhere in your family tree, and Dragon Disciples were presented with the idea of harnessing the dormant potential within your draconic blood.
Yeah I noticed the hair styes also. Another immersion buster.
Also, isn't Kara-Tur, the land that Yoshimo was from, supposed to be at least somewhat Japanese inspired? I mean, BG2 seemed to indicate that Katanas were rare outside of that region.
The part of Kara-Tur most analogous to real-world Japan is probably the island nation of Kozakura.
Yoshimo was from Shou Lung. More analogous to real-world China.
You can find a katana in BG3, in Golbraith's House; he also has Abdel Adrian's shield.
https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Katana
That's the only katana in the game, coded as a longsword technically. It is never stated to be as such, but since Golbraith knew Abdel Adrian (the canonical Bhaalspawn of BG2), that that was probably Yoshimo's katana.
In my headcanon, my Kara-Tur Ascendant Dragon monk Wuen Hung Lo had come to BGC from the land of Shou Lung, also. The last words his master had told him before coming to Faerun was "Patience, grasshopper."
Spoilers: It's because it dosn't exist.
The entire concept behind mythological creatures is their attributes, speech and behaviors.
In BG3. there's only two rules that are constant. Everyone wants to bang you, there are no compliments, or friendships, or bro's. You throw a dude a heal pot, and that is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ advance.
and of course 2. Dwarves arent scottish white midgets with bearded females. Elves who draw their power from the moon, and have pale skin that glows somewhat in moon light can now be african. and of course. Orcs arent green. They're blond with blue eyes and although slimey and disgusting can still manage to take 3 hours every morning to perm their man bun. I'm sorry... Body type 1 bun. *rolls eyes*
Yeah...They crapped on the lore.
Those are a Bugbear-a Goblinoid- and an Ogre, which is.. an Ogre.
You may be right, but they're orcs to me.
So no. They are still not Orcs. The Ogre isn't even green.
Yep. This game TOTALLY nails it. THIS is how Dwarves should sound.
