Advice for starting/setting up a modded playthrough
Needed some advice on how to setup a mod manager and also set up different profiles so i can switch between modded and vanilla. Wanted to know, does profiles mean different characters or what

BG3 has it's own in game mod manager, and it's as simple as just clicking "Download" or "Uninstall" when searching for community mods.

You can also toggle the mods on and off by simply checking the ones you have downloaded.

while BG3 has his own mod manager, be aware the cool mods are not there, since they require the script extender and it's not on the mod manger ingame.

Instead, i really suggest you use BG3MM to install nexusmods mods.
you can enable/disable the mods at will, but also know that you need separate saves for modded and vanilla play (this is also true with the ingame mod manager).

I thought they got rid of the profile thing awhile ago?

But no, as far as I'm aware, the only thing profiles affected was having different save game files.

Unlike in BG 1 and 2, you can't save an Export of your character builds. You have to make a brand new character from scratch, every time you start a new playthrough. Unless you're running an Origin character.
I can only add three things;

- Once you mod the game do not change or add new mods to that saved game. Doing so will make it unstable.

- Pick a mod manager and stick with it, do not mix the in game mm with others. It does not play well with anyone or anything else.

- I only use SE mods, they are far more stable and way more dynamic than over-rider mods.

hey man just wondering, if I download a mod and host it will the players also download the mod on joining?

If the mod is activated while you're hosting the game, then yes. They'll need to download the mod before they can join.

Thankfully, this is also easily done, as it shows which mods you're running, and gives players the option to just click to download them.

That being said, I would not recommend running too many mods at once, as people may find that too annoying to sit there and wait for all the mods to install, then wait for Host to accept them, then sitting through a long loading screen.
