There's also a lootable one on one of the duergar's corpses in the Underdark or I just got lucky, unsure.
I get that in BG1 the Wilderness wasn't littered with Full Plates either but... still.
i think it's totaly fine that you dont have a good heavy armor of the bet a price to pay for dumping dex...
It's not really a big thing, not like you need it anyway. Just steal Lae's armor, it's enough.
Thing is though is that chain mail is supposed to be the default starting equipment for Paladins.
(And hopefully we get lots of variety between the different looks for armor—and weapons—of different qualities!)
Chainmail can be found in the goblin camp (merchant) or in the underdark
Admantine Splint Armor can be found in the Grymforge late act 1 area.
I mean they will justify anything for the almighty Larian in their eyes. But yeah it's dumb. But also D&D in the hands of WotC has gone to lengths to make the game more minimalist again.
That's not true, you can loot ringmail (often in the dank crypt).
