XP and Level Extension 13 to 20 issues
I stalled the MOD that allows characters to go to level 20, and then also installed the Double XP mod.
This appeared to work OK and I had progressed my main character(s) about 2/3rds of the way to level 13. I then discovered that the experience that I had gathered was eaten and set back to around 2000 into the band from level 12 to 13. Curiously I also noticed that one Character (in this case Gale) had not benefited as much from the XP increase, which is odd as the characters usually all are around the same level and the party (seems to) gains the experience, not individuals.
I am now experimenting using the XPx10 MOD out of interest. I have just saved a game where I am about 80 to 90% of the way to level 13. It will be interesting to see what experience is shown when I reload next time. I will report on that when I know.
I have read many of the posts referring to using higher levels than 12, and I can understand that, and there is no sensible way that you can gain extra spell slots and similar after level 12 because these must have been coded in the programme.
More on this soon
Happy gaming ... remember it is just a game!

Update... sorry that should have started with "I installed..."

Anyway, I loaded again later today and it had again eaten the experience again. On looking at the new experience after the "eating" all the three in the party (except Gale) had about the same XP as Gale was showing. There must be some bug in the XP modifier system that does not match the vanilla code. I had no other Mods installed that would interfere with the experience tracking.

A better solution ive seen is to enable the ability to continue level multiclasses up to the cap of lvl 12, instead of trying to level post lvl 12.

Like a lvl 12/12 Cleric/Wizard.

I've had no issues with Unlock Level Curve, and I've been using it for a very long time now. I get to level 20 just fine, and coupled with 5e spells, I am able to get whatever spell slots I should have.
you probably updated your client to a new version, which will create a conflict with your mods. just because your game boots, and the mods seem to work, doesnt mean they are working 100%. check that your relevant mods are current for the version of BG3 you're running.

because that shouldn't happen. you should be able to exceed level 12, and gain the spell slots for 7th 8th 9th.

also, make sure the mods you're using are compatible, preferably from the same author, i know theres lots of mods that increase exp and increase level cap, but from different authors, which can cause conflicts depending on how they coded it.

Also read the xp mod description carefully most xp mods ive seen have said dont install mid playthrough, and to install on a fresh playthrough

If I'm not mistaken, there is also a level curve adjustment mod for the level 20 cap which you should get if you actually plan to reach that high.

Alternatively, there's an Instant Level 12 mod, that reduces the XP cost for reaching each level down to 1 point each. So if you wanna test the level creep, you could try that.
