There is good gear. Magic items are literally everywhere and you find more. However, there should be more variety. Too many magic items are gear to specific subclasses, imo.
There are relevant choices while leveling up, especially for casters, as well as muti classing.
Environmental actions absolutely make a difference here. Half this forum whines on a regular about having to "cheese bosses" with them.
Choice does impact act 2, 3, and end game.
I'm not sure we are even playing the same game...
Ehm what? What game are you playing? :-D Haha this is ridiciolous.
I have almost never played a game in which gear and items with strong effects matter more. The ONLY time that leveling really matters is the jump from 4 to 5 because the power difference is that huge (melee classes being able to attack twice is a gamechanger for them and mages getting stuff like counterspell).
The only thing I can remotely agree with is your last point. Yeah, oils a.s.o. CAN be used but I haven't used them once during my Tactician run. The only thing I am using before battle are Concentration buffs.
Leveling up is no end in itself - there is no end-game to level up for. Once you hit level 12, you are close to the end. And once the story is finished, the game is over.
XP grinding is what you have to do (often repetitively) to gain levels so you can get to the content you actually enjoy, i.e. the end-game content.
If you feel this game is an XP grind, then maybe you are not really enjoying yourself with it? In that case I have to warn you: it's not going to get better for you probably.
Yeah .. some looter-shooter or somethin'.
What i mean is: I am on my way to winning this game and did not really have to worry about all that. I can if i'd like, but it doesn't really help that much to win the game
Well your wording is pretty bad then because there was no way to read it that way.
So what you're actually saying is: This game is too easy/I'm too good. Good for you. Seeing how new players struggle and CRPG veterans call the game on the more relaxed side, I'd say they succeeded in balancing. A game like this shouldn't cater to the hardcore gamer exclusively nor should it be too easy. The only thing this game needs is a mode less forgiving than Tactician later down the line (and that thing will come I'd wager).
If you feel like that, almost every other RPG with a Journal should theoretically feel the same for you.
As for the rest, gear is like skills and abilities. The idea is to find synergy between all of the different ways you can acquire abilities and gear and combine them with a coherent strategy.
I am on my way to finishing Act II. Of course i usually check the gear, but usually I don't find the need to do it, or the odds of finding something usefull is very low.
Really? I think BG3 actually did a good job not to make it to feel like that. There is SO MANY ways to even approach quests and events not to say solve it, and most of the time everything in zone connected so it just feels as one big quest overalll, at least for me
None of what you said there (that you love) has anything to do with xp.
Or kick up the difficulty if you're bored. Many posts here talk about the game being too easy or too hard. Congrats on dominating Normal (based on what you've said in your posts). Maybe you're ready for the big leagues. :)
