you insert a token you gain from putting 4 weapons on the correct alters within some ruins which results in the trap being disarmed as it assumes you being its rightful holder.
There's a few other item accepting slots in the game that do not disappear because you put the correct thing in there.
Yeah it just made me curious. Because inserting the Crest, changes the interactable object's name from 'Crest Panel' to 'Control panel with a unique slot.'
It's just in case players want to deactivate the weapon in case they forgot to use the amulet before they grabbed the Blood of Lathander. Personally, I prefer to let the weapon fire anyways, because it's justice for what the Creche did to the inhabitants of the temple. Plus you get pretty funny dialogue from Astarion when you resurrect him if he dies in the blast.
