Underdark vs Mountain Pass
Now that I cleared the underdark and did not take any exit to progress further, I'm going back to the patrol near the Mountain Pass to beat them.

Should I step into act 2 throught underdark or mountain pass, does it changes anything.

Shadowheart quest progressed, but if I go throught mountain pass, will I ♥♥♥♥ up my plan to romance her.

i prefer underdark, because if you go mountain path you are forced into ambush decision, which if played poorly can lead to really annoying chunk of the game.

Idk underdark entrance feels more interesting and less forcing i guess, though you will get moonlantern way later.

It doesn't matter. You can always go to the other entrance.

Personally, I find the Mountain Pass far more enjoyable than using the Underdark, but that's just me. I'm not sure it really changes much in terms of romances but at the same point, I'm not currently romancing Shadowheart so I'm not 100% sure.

It does matter, if you enter via underdark, whole mountain path route is blocked. You can only encounter Drieder via interaction in last light

I guess I'm gonna clear the mountain pass first anyway. My party is level 6 and I cleared the underdark completely. Myconids and Gnomes are alive.

Thanks for feedbacks guys.

Both are fine.

It only changes some initial act 2 stuff (who you meet and how things progress initially), it doesn't lock you out of anything in act 2 afaik.

I played first via the Underdark. Only on my later playthrough I went Mountain Pass. The weapon you can get from the monastry makes Act 2 like a walk in the park.

I basically ran completely exhausted with minimum spell slots and half health into two Death Sheperds and their ghouls and ghast. Felt like cutting through paper and they hit like harmlesscuddles.

I entered through Underdark, went to Last Light Inn, teleported to Waukeen's Rest, did Mountain Pass, did Crêche, entered Shadowlands through Mountain Pass, met Drider and went to Moonrise with him.So I don't know what you mean.

Go to Underdark, wipe it clean, do all quests including Grymforge - up till the point you see the elevator leading to Moonrise. Don't take it - turn around, make sure you did everything on the surface and the underground and then go to Mountain Pass. You don't want to return to Act 1 from Act 2 generally - because if you make Halsin a companion, he will refuse to return there with you and will leave you - until you're back at least - but your journal will be bugged and still show that Halsin left.

The method you use to enter determines your initial allies in the shadowlands. You can change sides very early and easily, but that's the main change. There's more opportunity for roleplay if you go through underground- mountains technically have you arrive a little later. Underground has you arrive while the ambush is being planned, mountains have you arrive as the ambush is literally about to happen.
Assuming you only want to do one in a playthrough, they both also have different optional side-adventures to go on that can change the direction of the plot. Underground route (which I'm counting as everything that happens beyond the boat across the lake) has the forge, mountains have the temple/creche. Both "side areas" are massive, and have lots of treasure. You could totally do both if you wanted though.

if you are worried about shart, then don't worry does not really matter where you go into from

you can basicly clear both underdark and mountainpass so long you didn't go act2
(e.a grymforge ladder)
or mountainpass exit

I cleared the underdark for most of it.

I went back to Mountain pass and after I finally beat the patrol, there is not much to do except going to another bridge not destroyed and the games tell me I'm about to advance and tie up loose end. Did I miss something ?

I suggest doing the pass before Act 2, because the Blood of Lathander mace is very useful in that act.

Underdark route definitely flows better narratively.

But yeah like people have been saying, I also recommend doing the mountain pass content before entering act 2.

I like the Underdark route more personally.
